Donna C
Hi all, my orp has just started laying and has really runny pooh to point i've had to give her bum area a good clean, much to her disgust. They are on growers at the moment til need to buy more then will get layers. I've just wormed them as i do every month with verm-x. (Recommended by breeder). They were enjoying a nice weetabix( or 4 ) at tea time. Any ideas how to stop this? other than that she fine. Many thanks Donna
Henslaved
Maybe it's the Weetabix .
karlotta
It could be the weetabix, or it could still be worms - I wouldn't rely on Verm-X for worming, Flubenvet is always the way to go.

Henslaved
I have a tub of the Flubenvet 2.5% Poultry Wormer, I cut a grape in half and put on a "pinch" of Flubenvet and each girl gets one of those a day for 7 days. I don't know about the 1% mixture but I'm sure it will tell you on the box .
jennydavies
Hello Donna, I give our girls their Flubanvet mixed with what they enjoy most (so that I know they definately get it) I put our girls dose in with drained & rinsed tinned sweetcorn . Just a tiny amount (about the size of a small fingernail) sprinkled on enough sweetcorn to keep the girls interested until it's all gone does the trick for me. I also give it on chopped up spaghetti if I have some left over. I put a tiny amount of olive oil on first to help the flubanvet stick. I do this for seven days and I know it works because I have found expelled worms on the poo tray in the hen house.
Donna C
sounds easy enough, but where is best to buy it?? Sorry all the questions
Angie
My Vet orders it for me, i call him ask for flubenvet 1% and it is there the next day...very nice man
Lavenders_Blue
If you Google flubenvet you will find lots of places online to buy it. Just pick the one with the best price! If you only have two hens, then I'd recommend buying the 1% strength rather than 2.5% I really wouldn't advise using the 'add a pinch to treats' method of dosing with Flub, although I know lots of people do this. It's designed to be mixed in with the hens' pellets/mash so that they eat the correct amount according to their weight (blobbing some one a grape is totally hit and miss as to whether the dose is correct) and also so that they take the medicine in gradually during the day rather than in one go. It's honestly very very easy to mix into feed. With the 1% strength you simply weigh out 2kg of pellets, add a teaspoonful of oil (olive, veg, cod liver - whatever you have basically), add 1 level scoop of flubenvet and mix like crazy until it's evenly mixed. That's it. Feed this instead of unmedicated pellets for 7 days. If the hens eat all the medicated pellets before the 7 days is up, mix up some more and feed this until the end of 7 days, then throw away any leftovers. Seemples!
