We still have ex-batts available and they are waiting patiently in their cages for their new homes.

Collection time is now 1pm to 4.30pm it may be possible to collect a small number of hens from the St. Nets area but this will need to be pre booked with Em first.

I have plans for some exbatts this year, plan on getting another eglu and OH is going to extend the WIR with a seperate section for them until they are strong enough to join the other girls.

I would like to get them from Brackley as my Mum and Dad lived there for some years.

Do you have regular rehoming sessions in Brackley.

I intend to rehome some in a month or two from Brackley. I hope this months goes well.

Snoxy what sort of condition were yours in when you got them. I intend to put them in a new section (not yet built ) of the WIR seperated from the girls until they are stronger, I want to put the eglu up on a table, but am now worried about whether they could manage to climb a ladder?

Thanks

Chrissie

Some of them are in good condition, however all mine have been pretty featherless and weak. Jumping up and down the ladder would probably cause extra strain on joints that are already sore. One of my latest girls had a green bruise from just being removed from the cage (it faded to yellow and is gone now), Em also recommends taking out the roosting bars until they are stronger. Have a look at my latest pics, you can see how I have sectioned off part of my WIR with a rabbit run and a little hutch for them :D

Thank you scarlettohara, I was intending to put them in my eglu and run initially just to keep them away from my gilrs for a week or two and then move them into the new WIR section so that they could safely see the girls to make integrating them easier once they were ready, so I will keep them in the eglu and run until they are strong enough to manage a ladder.

Nearer the time (when OH has completed the building work) and I have bought another (purple eglu) or (pink eglu):D I will post asking for advice, planning for exbatts is exciting but scary too :?

Hi Chrissie :-) I agree with Scarlettohara climbing the ladder would be a challenge for ex batts. My girls did surprise me I have to say as I expected them to be a lot more Unsteady on their legs when we got them. My girls are very happy in the Eglu And run. I pop them into a sectioned off area within the free ranging area during the day. I havent attempted to integrate them with my other 15 girls yet because I wanted to give them a chance to feather up nicely :-)

I believe it went very well today

It must have done as I was plan B for any leftover batts and none arrived!!

I hope you are right Redwing and they all found homes.

Snoxy Thank you for your information, when I get them I will put them in the eglu and run until they are fit and then in the new section of the WIR with the ladder to the eglu and then gradually intergrate them with the girls.

I am getting eggcited at the prospect now, I wonder if I can get organised in time for the next rehoming, will it be the end of February?

Excellent news Redwing :-) Just love it when every goes to plan :-D Chrissie :-) it would be great if you could take some girls at the end of Feb. I collected 5 girls a couple of weeks before Christmas and I adore them :-) just great characters. All are feathering up nicely apart from one who is lagging behind but she will get there eventually :-) How many are you in hoping to collect?
