migsy
Hello! I'm about to get my chickens back from my parents now that we have moved into our new house. I sold my old WIR to the buyers of my old house and now I'm going to use electric netting instead. Do I need to close the pop-hole at night if the fence is left on? chuckmum6
I would personally, risk of power cut or the battery failing would worry me, I'd see it as an extra protection rather than the only.
karlotta
I do. There's no way I'd leave them open at night. Plus you'll want to bring food in anyway to prevent rodents at the same time.
chicken bark
I shut mine in at night. The other thing you might want to consider (if you haven't already) is getting a cheap solar panel to trickle charge your battery. It means over the Winter I've only had to charge my battery from a charger a few times. In the Summer I don't expect to need the charger at all. Edited to add - congratulations on the move, hope you enjoy your new house.
karlotta
Out of interest what solar trickle charger do you have? Looked at these a while back and there were so many I couldn't choose! (typical libra! )

scarlettohara
Migsy - you could put the netting around the eglus with runs, then you could just shut them in the run at night
migsy
Thanks for all your replies Scarlet O'Hara - I thought of that but money is too tight for a run right now but perhaps when the early mornings come, I might just do that. I've warned the new neighbours about the chickens and they seem fine. In fact, one of them said that she used to keep bantams and she love poultry!
