NannyOgg
Hi everyone, wonder if you can share your wisdom... I picked up my six girls on September 1st last year, and the breeder (Wylye Valley) said that they were between 12 - 14 weeks old. The buff orp started laying on boxing day, and both the barnevelder and wyandotte started laying a month later on 26th Jan. I'm just wondering when I might start seeing eggs from the two pekins and the araucana, as I thought they'd be hot on the heels of Esme, Ebony and Hermione. Any thoughts anyone? Thank you! Lewis
Should be quite soon A lot of hens are coming back in to lay as the hours of day light are increasing. Give them a couple of weeks and hope for eggs!
rossco
put your hand on there bottoms like your patting them you will feel two pokey out bones if they are really close together they are not ready yet they should be bout three fingers apart to lay good luck
chickencam
The 3rd week in February seems to be a popular coming back into lay time, so maybe your youngsters are just waiting for the days to lengthen too. If their combs are deep red and well formed and if they crouch when you approach them then they will be nearly there.

JillM
If you want them to lay stick to layers pellets. It has everything they need, so best to be sparing with the treats for now.
Chook-a-holic
I would have thought soon... We got our girls mid August last year and they were varying ages 18-24weeks but the first egg we got was the day the VAT increased (after a lengthy 're-focus' session and serious chat about their futures)! Sure it will be soon
