while impatiently waiting for our new purple cube I was looking on the omlet site at some pictures of it.

 

Is it just me or is that convenient lever mechanism used for raising the cube onto its wheels inconveniently located inside the run where you can't easily get at it?

 

Do you have to dismantle the run to operate it?

 

Are there any videos showing how this is acheived?

Especially as the run door isnt a nice size for getting through. I would have preferred that bigger.

The Omlet site has this to say about the wheels:

 

Every eglu cube also comes with wheels so that you can effortlessly move it on your own around your garden. The special puncture-poof wheels are easy to operate using the lever mechanism to lift the eglu.

(I like the puncture-poof wheels.)

I must admit I can't see how it works. Tomorrow Kate will be able to tell us if it is all as easy as it sounds. Most of us will barely have room for the cube, let alone the chance to move it around!

It doesnt look like it comes out of the back. If they had made it slightly longer with a slit that it could move up and down in it would work but I cant see anything like that

Maybe there is an attachable extention to the pole that you push on to use the lever??

You'll have to wait another day as my delivery has been delayed till Wednesday but as soon as I've had a play, I'll let you know how it works. Mine's going to be without a run though so moving it will be much easier for me.

To me , it looks likr the wheels are inside the run and the levers are outside of the run, connected to the central points of each wheel through the mesh of the run. Hope this makes sense??

It looks like the wheels are inside the run to me- so you'd have to move the mesh. Why don't you ask Omlet?

I think the photos on the website maybe just to show what it may look like, rather than the finished design.

 

I don't think such a good design team would miss a trick like that.

 

Kate, please let us know if my concerns are justified.

We won't need to move ours but tomorrow kate will be able to tell us more and she'll have her mits on the cube, that's so exciting. Kate you'll be like the child on christmas morning

Just reading the last comment " like a child on Christmas morning" - you are sooooo right !! I can't wait! My delivery is between 9-10am tomorrow Wed 16th May & I bet I'll be up at 5 am !

I will be the same on Thursday. I won't find out the time until tomorrow, but it had better be first delivery.

What sort of new chooks will you get to go in it?

 

What a brilliant toy to play with on a day like this. I think I'd be tempted to go & sit in the run, to see what it feels like!!!!
