Griffin
Janty, I'm not a union member If only I was. I shall certainly be looking at this soon. It's never too late. I joined my union when I needed their help fighting unfair dismissal. Their help was invaluable and I could not have managed without them. If what Janty says is correct then they'll help you to get a job nearer home. Everyone should join a union if there is one available to them. Sageandonion
Sorry to hear this - I hope things all work out for you. These are very unsettling times in the public sector. I'm about to take voluntary redundancy (though they're not calling it that) in my job in the Courts Service. I'm in 2 minds as to whether I'm doing the right thing but I've decided to jump before I'm pushed. I'm hoping to find something that fits more around the school hours - me and the rest of the mums out there I guess!
Griffin
After nearly two years of hell it was settled out of court just before Christmas. Got my pathetic amount of compensation a week ago. Not happy about the outcome. All the while I've carried on working there, on the new contract, under protest, but now that it's over with I've chosen to reduce my hours and any work I do there is on my terms, I'll work whenever I want but refuse to put myself out for the company or do extra shifts to help them. My feelings towards the man who owns the company are not suitable for a family forum.

sparkysmum
Thanks again for all your replies folks its so kind of you to let me hear of your experiences & how you dealt with similar issues Well I went to Strathyre to day -50 minute journey- some of it along a single track road. The staff could not have been more welcoming. It was a beautiful drive to get there, the road runs along a loch and the hills were looking dark in the morning sky. The school itself is like a Hansel & Gretel cottage - built in a clearing in the forest with the single track road running along side. The car park is part of a field across the track. The school has a roll of 40 and I am sure that if I lived even 10 miles closer I would probably love it. Still not sure what to do but I will probably stay there until I can sort something else out. scarlettohara
It sounds idyllic now but not when you have to do it twice a day and in rotten weather. Hope somethings nearer home comes up
