jimnpaula
I've just realised that my ex batts have arrived at a milestone in their lives: we've had them 18 months. If they are assumed to be 18 months old when they are released (a common age for them to be disposed of) then they are now enjoying being free for longer than they were caged. Bramble
Hooray! Well done you and your lucky girls, 18 months is fantastic! My 3 ex-batts have just reached their "8-months-of-freedom-milestone" which I'm very chuffed about, when they arrived, my target was to "keep them going" for three months, with anything over that being a bonus, but inspired by you I have fingers crossed they will have even longer to play in the sunshine! jimnpaula
Sadly Topaz and Ruby didn't make this milestone, but at least they felt the sun on their backs and soil under their toes before they died. P
Trougher
That's wonderful! I have had mine 7 months now, they are still laying well and enjoying life. I didn't really know how long to expect them to live, I reckoned about a year, but there is obviously hope for longer!
poachedegg
The last of our original ex batts died the other week, however she managed her 2 year milestone a couple of weeks previously. The last of our 2nd lot has another month to get to her 18 month milestone and our most recent 2 ex batts will have been with us 6 months next month. Well done on 18 months - they do have an extra special place iin our hearts don't they!?
percy049
We had 2 of ours reach the 15 month milestone this month, but sadly one died last week. I think they're 60 - 72 weeks when you collect ex-batts (1yr 2-5months)
BocBoc
That's brilliant- well done! Our ex-batt Anna has been with us for about 14 months and she was with another family before us for about 6 months after being rescued from prison. It's a lovely feeling isn't it? JS1
My remaining two out of three (RIP Agatha) are still with us neary 18 months on - I think quite a few of us got some around November 2009, didn't we? Neither is laying now apart from the odd soft egg, but both seem happy enough

majuka
It's wonderful to hear about all of these ex-batts retirement. Our shortest retired girl was with us for just four weeks and our longest to date was with us for just under two years.
