Charlottechicken
I didn't learn anything new, unfortunately I'll watch again next week though. They are choosing an overspending family each week to give a financial overhaul to. This week's lot were from Birmingham, and despite having a combined household income of £108,000, were overspending by £33,000 a year Mind you, £200 a month on takeaways was a bit excessive
sage
For an educated family they are very stupid if they cannot survive on £108,000 pa. Makes me so cross, won't be watching again. Sage
Charlottechicken
They were annoying! I found it shocking to realise that I spend an 18th of what they earn, and live well on it
Lesley
An overspend??

Ain't Nobody Here
They overspend by £2,800 a MONTH .
Bramble
I watched this, hoping for some tips, which I didn't get and was staggered that a professional couple needed that kind of budgeting advice I liked the lady who made the nettle pasta, but I'm not at all sure I agree that keeping chucks for the "free" eggs is a good tip for economising (my eggs seem to "cost" a fortune!!! )
The Dogmother
I couldn't have watched that, they'd have had me ranting

Guest
When a family wastes money like the one on the show tonight it's easy to show them how to make savings! Take a family that is already quite thrifty and then save them money, then I'll watch. I was hoping for some good advice but anyone could tell that family how to save money!!!! and one of the money saving tips from tonight's show was to make your own hand cream with palm oil, beeswax and other stuff that costs a fortune!!! Erm, no! Buy a cheap one from Aldi!

Cinnamon
I think I caught a few mins of this last night. Was there an odd lady who wears little boys pants instead of knickers? I thought that was very strange
Sam
Was there an odd lady who wears little boys pants instead of knickers? I thought that was hilarious!! Had me in stitches. The people are stupid though, do you really need someone to tell you that you would save money if you didn't get a taxi everywhere? It's just common sense. Charlottechicken
I could see her point wearing the boys' pants though. They looked much better quality, and no frilly bits to come adrift either! I won't be following suit though, not with my hips You are right about the taxi journeys, and the bus into town went past her door too! I often make journeys on public transport if they are cheaper than taking the car. We are lucky enough to be able to buy cheap all day tickets on our buses (just £3.60), and I buy one in the morning and make two or three shopping trips in one day to various areas (they cover the West Midlands), great value, no parking fees and no petrol usage! From where I am I can get into Brum on the train for just £2.20 return too. It would cost me more than double that to park.
craftyhunnypie
That family last night annoyed me. £90 a week on baby clothes...what's wrong with Tesco or George clothes? Or even charity shop baby clothes. Nothing a bit of washing powder & Comfort can't sort. Silly woman! Everyone knows Spar shops are over priced. I got the impression she was lazy - couldn't be bothered thinking about shopping or what she'd be cooking & never used her legs to go anywhere. Hmmm & the amount she used her mobile - was she insecure or something - honestly! Had to laugh at the rubber bands - we have hundreds, as we are a postie drop off point. There re all over the drive. The boy pants were rather jolly colours - but what do you do about the extra fabric for ' the bulge' & the Y front? Emma.x

I'm with Justine on this ! This feels a little like easy television to me. A shame as I love Mrs Moneypenny's columns in the FT. I don't get why people spend a fortune on baby/children's clothes. My objective when my kids were younger was comfortable and appropriate for the season and I didn't want to have to worry about the cost of the clothes if they got filthy or lost.
