Doody Posted April 7, 2011 Share Posted April 7, 2011 Hi all, As mentioned in some earlier posts im ready to increase the family to three Buff Orpingtons. However i live in the west midlands (Sutton Coldfield) and from my knowledge dont have many breeders around here. The closest one to me is a activity farm and they sell each Buff at £22.50 each. Is this a good price, or to expensive? Although i have been keeping chickens for a year im know experienced buyer or anything, but any advice would be appreciated on this. Benaberry Posted April 7, 2011 Share Posted April 7, 2011 Chap my girls came from (in Kent) I think charges £25 a bird at POL (I paid £10 each for 8-week-olds - great in theory, until two started crowing - swapped them over no problem with him though) Sounds OK compared to what I paid, but I'm no expert. Generally the cheapest you ever see is £20, I'd say £25-£35 is the average range, £40 isn't unusual and you can pay £50 upwards for a decent breeding bird.
