Tweety
I now have 7 beautiful chicks out of the 9 eggs in the incy, the last of which hatched yesterday morning. What should I do about the 2 remaining eggs - leave them in the incy for a couple more days, candle them or call it a day? There is no movement or noise from them, although that was also the case with some of the ones that hatched.
chicken bark
If you are not in a hurry to set up the incubator for the next lot of eggs I'd leave them for a couple of days. Lucky you with your 7 chicks. Photos please. My hatch has started this morning.
Tweety
I'm in no hurry for the incubator, so will leave them for a couple of days and see if anything happens. I am very lucky to have 7 healthy chicks at my first attempt, and I hope that your hatch is equally successful chicken bark. I'm getting nothing done in the house or garden though, it is mesmerising sitting watching them even when they are fast asleep! I have taken loads of photos, but our PC has gone on the blink and I don't know if, or how, I can post them from my iPad. As soon as the PC is working again, I promise to bore you all to tears with photos of my little darlings!
Redwing
Thats great news Tweety, you have done so well I'd also be inclined to leave the other eggs a bit longer but you could just as easily hook them out for a candle, at day 23 there is no right or wrong answer other than dont bin them before double checking!! Tweety
Thank you very much, Redwing. I couldn't have done it without you, and the others who were kind enough to give me advice too! I'm just so relieved that all the chicks appear to be healthy. In typical fashion, my blue laced Wyandotte has now gone broody and seems very determined to stay on the nest, so I am thinking of putting some eggs under her. At least I will have the incy as a back-up, in case she changes her mind. I feel a heavy dose of Morechicks Disease coming on!
