Twiglet
Yesterday afternoon, in broad daylight, I saw a little grey mouse scurrying about in the chooks run. I'm not scared, far from it, but just stood & watched it for a bit to see what it did. Apart from rummaging around in the hemcore and one brief visit up to the feeder, it didn't seem to bother the girls and we didn't seem to bother it. I know we've got all sorts of creatures in our garden as part of it is very wild and open and during my nocturnal slug hunts (essential to keep the ***** away from the veg's) I hear & see lots of scurrying things - so the question is............. are they a hazard to the chooks in any way, apart from nicking their food perhaps? Lindsay
Don't think mice are any danger to your girls Sarah .... in fact, in my experience, it's the other way round!! My girls have been known to attack, kill and eat them whole!!! (Hope this doesn't put you off your lunch!!)
CrookhamChooks
Yes, mine eat them too *edit* you sure it wasn't a young rat?
Twiglet
Thanks. Must be a lucky mouse then!! Gratefully, NOT young rat, totally different shape. Have had experience of rats so mice are no bother

Jools
Rats make my skin crawl and I get hubby onto the case if they're about, but I think mice are cute little furry things and can't bear to harm them
Karen & co.
We have a little field mouse that I have found twice now in the bottom of the eglu it just sits and looks at me but the poor thing has only half it's tail, and I wondered if the chooks had had the other half karen x
Kathy C
Peri surprised us at the weekend by killing and eating a field mouse. The other two chased her when they saw what she had. As for rats? Thats what my air gun is for!
