redhotchick
I had an e-mail today purporting to be from Paypal, asking me to log in and verify my details. I was reluctant to enter my bank account nr on demand. I checked Snopes and it appears to be a scam. Has anyone else had a similar request? It is unsettling. I was the victim of debit card fraud last year already.
chickric
NEVER log into anything from a link in an Email. Always use your browser and your usual method of logging in, if they need you to update any details you can do it from there.
Cinnamon
Another good time of thumb is never to trust an email that does not address you by name, but as 'Papal user' or similar. I actually had this one last week.....

Chucky Mama
Yep, if is addressed to Dear ***User, don't go near it and also don't contact them using the number or links provided in the email.

redhotchick
Thanks for replies. The thing is, it was addressed to me by name, the e-mail had a security "tick" and there wasn't a link to the site in the main body of the mail. I did log onto the paypal site independently, and it was at this point that I was asked for my full account nr. I didn't input it. Tonight when I tried to log onto Facebook I got a security warning too. I'm changing passwords for everything. It's all very worrying.
