Willow Posted April 30, 2011 Share Posted April 30, 2011 I must confess to loving 'wedding' hats - I have at least two I couldn't resist buying that I've not had occasion to wear yet. Last wedding I went to a German friend insisted on taking my picture as she wanted to show her friends at home a 'proper English wedding guest hat' I surprised myself by really rather liking Victoria Beckham's hat (although I do wish she'd worn her hair up rather than as a croydon facelift ) although I'd feel silly wearing it at that angle she is so into fashion I thought she carried it off. I don't think anyone needs to say more about Beatrice's hat... I also liked Zara's, Lady Sophie Windsor (whoever she is), the Queen and Carole Middleton's hats. I wasn't immediately sure about Princess Michael of Kent's hat but on balance like it, the drape of blue on the brim is elegant. Camilla's was too big and I thought made her look old beside the queen. The Dogmother Posted April 30, 2011 Share Posted April 30, 2011 Funny, I've just come back from a wedding , small local affair, where a lot of people wore hats, but even more wore these fascinator things. I have to confess to not being a hat fan... well not dress hats that is - I like them on other people, but stick to 'purpose' hats myself. i.e. sunhats and warm ones in the cold weather. My sister & I used to just love trying on the hats & we never ever got told off by the shop assistants. I don't get invited to any weddings these days though. I hired a really lovely hat and in the end didn't want to take it off. I did manage to hit someone else in the face with it though as we went in to kiss each others cheeks. Old Speckled Hen Posted May 3, 2011 Share Posted May 3, 2011 I have thin fine hair which can look quite good with a decent amount of stuff( I change it all the time) on it before blow drying.Hats are death though.....................I really envy those women whose hair seems to flick up just as voluminous as ever after taking a hat off..............let's face it, who's going to eat a wedding breakfast and party later in the hat. beach chick Posted May 3, 2011 Share Posted May 3, 2011 yeah, that thing about women not being allowed to have different sized heads is so true. my oldest has a big head (thanks darling, you werent a small baby either! ) and nothing in any of the nice teenage shops fits her. and the hair thing too - I reckon Sam Cam suffers in the same way, knew she couldnt cope with a hat all day and didnt want to have the hair issue...
