Oh dear, poor you.

A nurse told me once that it's sometimes easier to keep fizzy drinks down than plain water, fizzy anything will do (though probably not alcohol  ), but I have to say, it definitely worked for me. Just try tiny sips of something fizzy?

Hope you are feeling better soon?

Massive sympathy to you. This isn't what you have, but I suffer from labrynthitus (ear problem) which I once had so bad I couldn't keep anything 'in' either end(sorry :vom: ) including water, for 2 days. The relentlessness of it really got to me and in the end I had to go to the doc. He said I was dehydrated, and gave me some pills which stopped the sickness. After that I made a quick recovery, was starving and stuffed my face with take away chicken and herbed potatoes which was the only food available at 10.00pm on holiday on a Sunday night. I never eat things like that  The worst bit about this was we were in Christchurch, NZ, so whilst OH spent 2 days sightseeing I never got to see any of it.....and I don't suppose I ever will now :( I hope you recover sooner rather than later, but I wouldn't be too heroic about it; see a doc if necessary.

There are a lot of tummy bugs about at the moment. Take care and watch out for dehydration, tiny sips every 15 minutes and I also find that plain digestive biscuits are a good starting food because they boost your blood sugar and make to feel better as well as lining your stomach, then move onto light carbs. Wishing you well.

I agree with the fizzy drinks. Pour a glass and let it go flat first - it is the sugar content that does you good. So if no pop is to hand then add a very tiny amount of salt and a little more sugar to a glass of water and take little sips.

When you feel a little better do the BRAT diet - Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast. It is easier for your stomach to deal with.

Also Arrowroot biscuits I have found are better than Digestives, but any dry plain biscuit should help.

You have my sympathies - the last time I had something similar I had 2 toddlers and a month old baby to deal with. Breast feeding every 2 hours was entertaining when I couldn't keep anything 'in' myself.

If you are no better this afternoon get on the phone to your GP.

Get well soon. :)

Aaw thanks,

feeling much better today, still wiped out but I managed to keep some plain boiled rice down earlier so I risked a boiled egg for lunch and thats stayed too!

Back to work tomorrow-see what I catch next (I'm sure thats where it came from-3-4 of kids had been off with sickness)

Thanks again

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, although it sounds like another day of recuperation might be in order, our schools always says to stay away for at least 48 hours after last sickness.

I felt shivery and nauseous over the weekend and yesterday OH felt the same and also has the trots, there seems to be a lot about, not good for exam season. Fortunately ED had a touch of it over the weekend but was ok for her exam and DS was ok for his exam today too, he seems to have missed out altogether.

Maybe I shouldn't say this whilst you are still feeling a bit peeky..but we swear by garlic in our household as a defence against all sorts of germs.... at the first sign of a sore throat or cold, my OH eats raw garlic rubbed on toast, and it really does seem to do the trick....also and perhaps as a result of this or because we are veggie we don't seem to really do tummy bugs here ( can't say never, and I'm touching wood, but the last time one of our family of four had a "bug" :vom: "bug" was at least six years ago , and long may that continue  ) Glad to hear you are feeling better, there's nothing quite so miserable as a tummy upset in my opinion, although thankfully they are usually quite short lived....

that garlic on toast sounds lovely!!!

Unfortunately I'm going back to work tomorrow-i'm only teaching for the morning and then ive got my planning time so its not too bad-my TA has had a lot of extra stuff to do while I've been off and I don't like the idea of her being left like that for too long-not that she cant just doesn't seem fair..but thats another matter..

Off topic I know, but it's really good to see that you posted that . My BF was a classroom assistant for many years. She was extremely talented regarding the written word, and sought after by many an English teacher, so much so that she took her own class for GCSE English ( but wasn't paid at the going rate for that).

I just want to say, thankyou on her behalf for acknowledging what TA's contribute.... it seems you are in the minority :(

thanks for saying that but I think its just acknowledging someone who works very hard-I had a wonderful TA in my last-but one class and we are still in touch. TA Ive recently left was an absolute nightmare..so I really appreciate the good ones and I hope they know that-bunch of flowers on the way to the one who's been so helpful-shes already on my egg list!
