Has anyone got Olympic tickets?

Recommended Posts

We have been checking our account but nothing has been taken so it looks like we haven't got any. Unsure whether I am disappointed or now. It was going to be blooming expensive :? The children will be really disappointed. May try again when returned tickets come back up for sale.

Yes!!

We've been very lucky, and looking at the numbers, looks like we have got a couple of events, including one in the stadium for some athletics - guessing not the mens 100m final, but we will wait and see!

Still plan to get to some of the free events (marathon, cycling etc) as well - taking our own food/drink etc as guessing that sort of stuff will be astronomically priced!

Don't think you're allowed to sell on, Vicki, but not sure how "they" would find out. I think he did apply for £55,000 worth of tickets & has had to extend his credit limit with the bank to buy them :!: & you know what :?: He's an insolvency practitioner :!: Good luck to him if he's genuine and just wants to see the games.

How do you get free event tickets :?: Does anyone know :?:

Yes that chap who got £11,000 worth of tickets applied for some astronomically huge amount of tickets. He was interviewed on BBC Breakfast a few weeks ago saying there was no way he could afford to pay for every single ticket he had applied for, but it would be okay because he knew he wouldn't get them all.

£11,000 worth of tickets is still a heck of a lot of events though!

Did anyone see Boris Johnson interviewed on the news? He seemed pretty miffed that he hadn't won any tickets!

I thought it was hilarious that the Mayor of London didnt get any tickets! We (well, my mum) didnt bother applying as the chance of getting tickets were so low

We got all the tickets we applied for. Women's football, 2 games one after the other. Apparently it's the first event of the olympics, happens before the opening ceremony  Also men's bronze medal football. All the matches are in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, we went for the cheapest tickets in all of them - £20 each. Guessing these events probably weren't over subscribed!

Nope - we didn't! Really disappointed, we didn't apply for lots, so gutted that we didn't get any. Especially as we'll be paying extra in our council tax for it for the next goodness knows how many years. We will go to the freebie ones and we will reapply at the next stage.

We got everything we applied for - all 2 of them  We went for the cheapest tickets for the opening day at the rowing :)

How did that one bloke end up getting £11,000 worth of tickets :? ? That can't be fair  . Presumably he'll be selling them all on :? .

I agree... I think there was an element of panic buying amongst the general public - or greed? But I don't think you can sell them on - instead, you can only sell them back at face value to the Olympic organisers, sometime next year IIRC but don't quote me on it - happy to be corrected

Between myself, OH, his parents & his brothers family, we must have applied for a couple of thousands of pounds worth of tickets. I was the only 'winner', with 2 tickets to the cross-country phase of the eventing (horsey stuff) for a grand total of £74. Probably for the best - my bank wouldn't be happy with me if I'd got them all!

We didn't get anything - had admittedly only applied for one thing, like jennym, the cross-country phase of the three-day-eventing, as couldn't afford anything else (plus I really, really wanted to see that, and thoguht we might at least stand a chance).

Oh well :(
