beach chick
... in a previous life I mean. the catalogue of events over the last few days reads like this: Weds: youngest catches hand in door at school, trip to A&E as cant move fingers. sprained. Thurs: insect bites me viciously, arm swells up and turns bright red. Fri: mercy dash to vet with poorly Gaga, baytril etc. only £30 Fri: youngest does bad bounce on trampoline, cant move wrist. trip to A&E; 'probably' fractured, in plaster. Sat: youngest's arm swells so we go back to A&E; have x-ray, still think 'very likely' fractured. Sun: both boy cats catch small birds and disembowel them in separate rooms thus doubling the clearing up. Mon: magpie gets stuck in WIR. have to put Muffin in isolation as she has done something to her leg. booked vet for this pm. I am tempted to go back to bed and pull the duvet over my head til it all goes away
Ain't Nobody Here
Aww, poor you, it does sound awful when you list it like that . Sorry, I'm not laughing really .
Paola
Oh no!! Going back to bed and hiding under the duvet sounds like a fantastic idea
chickencam
I agree back to bed with a good book. Hope things improve and there are no further dramas.
Seagazer
I also think you should all go back to bed just to be safe... You do seem to be having a bad time at the moment but lets think positively - it can only get better
Lewis
Is it safe to come out yet?
beach chick
Is it safe to come out yet? NO!! took youngest back to A&E this morning as plaster was digging in; finally got a doc to look at her x-ray - no bony injury, just severe sprain, so plaster has come off, hooray! dropped her back to school, came home for coffee and toast - phone rings, and I now have both girls home from school - youngest got shoved into a door thus hurting arm again; oldest has (always) had a grumbling appendix which has flared up, but guess what? no GP appointments available today. I am praying we avoid another mercy dash to A&E... meanwhile, Muffin the silkie is on cage rest as last night's vet visit revealed she had somehow damaged her knee ligament. is it too early to resort to wine??? patsylabrador
I wonder who you were or what you did in a previous life. I think you've suffered enough now and should be left alone. Seriously though, good luck with everything, hope it all settles down for you.
scarlettohara
Have a look over my last few posts and you see I can join you in some respect Just wanted to add that I was told there is no such thing as a grumbling appendix - might be worth a second opinion sorry
beach chick
if not a grumbling appendix, certainly a grumbling daughter!! anyway managed to get appt with on-call clinic in neighbouring town for this afternoon so might get to the bottom of it. beach chick
local GP sent us straight to hospital with query appendicitis. on arrival in A&E we were sent straight to the children's ward. then we waited for 3 hours, while A&E and the ward argued about where we should be. we then saw a surgeon for about 10 secs, who poked her once in the tummy and diagnosed ovulation pains and possibly some internal bleeding. apparently this is normal (???) so we have come home again. she is still in pain despite paracetamol and ibuprofen. I was not convinced by Mr. God Almighty the surgeon... all the nursing staff were really lovely though. large glass of red wine now in my hand while I wait for what tomorrow may bring..... scarlettohara
Crikey - how old is she ? I used to get terrible pain when I ovulated and it is to the side so that may be true, I think the egg coming down the tube and pushing out accounts for it. Poor little girl

Lesley
Ditto from here as well - these things always seem to come at the same time don't they!
beach chick
she's nearly 15... off school yesterday and today; tomorrow's an inset day so hopefully she can go back next week and see out the last week of term! I remember I used to get ovulation pain, so I must check it out and see what can be done, she cant have 3 days off every month. youngest still complaining of pain in her wrist and wearing sling but I am going to take it off her tonight and make her use her hand more - on hospital advice. still, on the plus side, havent been to hospital since Tuesday and Muffin's leg is healing nice on cage rest. scarlettohara
Apart from normal painkillers and hot water bottles, I suspect the pill will be the answer if it gets really bad

LolaLayla
You sound as if you have had a terrible time. Hope you have a peaceful weekend, I think you deserve it after all you have been through
Lavenders_Blue
Apart from normal painkillers and hot water bottles, I suspect the pill will be the answer if it gets really bad yes, I thought that too. am very reluctant tho - it just seems so young to start messing about with hormones. I know exactly what you mean. However, I used to suffer from absolutely hideous period pain as a teen, the whole of my lower back would ache and throb and I wouldn't know what to do with myself for 5 days. Painkillers didn't touch it When I started taking the pill, the pain completely disappeared (I didn't realise this would be the case - a happy side effect for me). Had I have known it would have such a miraculous effect, I would have started taking it years earlier. Whilst I still don't like the idea of having my hormones messed about with, I just couldn't go back to that pain again, it was crippling. beach chick
I know where you are coming from lavenders - I think we will monitor it for the next 6 weeks which coincides with summer school holidays and see where we go from there. I have absolutely no concerns from the sexually active/making that seem a good idea point of view, so it will come down to what is best for a pain-free life and therefore no missing school etc - she starts Y10 in September so we cant have this every month!!
