Does anyone know if Aldi Mayo contains FR egg?

Recommended Posts

I didn't think Hellmanns did? Unless they've changed in the last 8 years since I found out!

Yes they do, and they clearly state it on their jars now.

It's worth starting a campaign though - I started a campaign which got Covent Garden Foods (of the soups fame) to change the eggs in their new quiches to free range. Viral campaigns seem to work well. 8)

I saw the ad last night, and thought it referred more to the tastes being the same, rather than it's free range credentials. But I guess some people would be persuaded to buy after watching the ad and not even think about where the eggs came from. Would be good to find out for sure though, but guess it wouldn't contain FR eggs otherwise they'd shout about it.

Yes, it's about taste but also about price (going on the theme of their ads over the last few months comparing baked beans and ketchup etc). To me, they're not comparing like with like as Hellmann's use FR so is more expensive. Yep, Tescos is FR now :D but doesn't taste as nice as Hellmann's IMHO  Plus I don't like the way they dragged their heels over it - Hellmann's switched without quibble 4 years ago (but then, it's their business!).

BTW Hellmann's also do FR salad creme now

Just rang them, after 5 mins of hanging on got through to a young lady who had no idea. After some prompting she rang another department and confirmed that it DOES NOT contain free range eggs, but that they are 'working towards it' :?

Not good enough in my book and I told them so. I never shop there as so little of their produce is either British or free range; and I certainly won't buy their mayonnaise.

I have recently had a big fight with Haagen Daz telling them I'm buying Ben and Jerrys not theirs as B&j use free range eggs.

B&J is another one that I thought didn't use free range eggs! I really must get back on to knowing my brands...
