Jobs for Teens

Recommended Posts

We've got a job going for a chicken sitter / helper, but not local to you unfortunately. :(

:whistle::lol:

I've always had a job, but only lots of little things. I used to paint theatre scenery every weekend, then worked on a Childrens Farm every Saturday + holidays for a year on £2.something an hour

I've done quite a bit of volunteering and getting work experience, which is kind of a job but all helps on my CV.

I still do a lot of Technical Theatre work and so have 2 or 3 weeks paid work every summer with the same company for production week, then all the volunteering too.

At Uni I did Lambing at nights for 5/6 weeks, 8.30pm-7.30am (with lectures starting at 9!) on £1.90 an hour, take taxi fare out of it and we just did it for the experience! ;)

I've worked full time all summer with Chickens and Horses and have loved it all - playing with chickens, talking to customers + going to shows. Takes me over an hour to drive each way but thats fine ;)

Well done on the job Sam + good luck with the job hunting everyone else! :D

Aww thanks Sarah  That's actually so nice! Thank you for all your help :D

Thanks Lewis & jlo :D

Sounds like you've had loads of experience with animals! Bet it does look good on the CV ;)

Is it a vet that you want to be? I'd love to be a vet if I wasn't allergic to fur :oops:

Yup, quite a bit of animal work exp! :P

Have been on a dairy farm milking cows this last week :D ... had my arm up a cow on Saturday ;)

I still want to be a vet but don't know if I'll get there. Tis another 4 years (and £60k+) after this degree.

I'm allergic to cats too, lots of vets are apparently ;) . I used to be really bad but just ignore it now and its got a lot better over the years!

When do you start Sam?

Have others had any luck? :)

Just a casual day at work?! ;) that's one thing I could not do if I was a vet... that and giving injections... thinking about it I think I'd be a pretty rubbish vet  i'll stick with accountancy ;)

4yrs & 60k sounds a bit daunting  I bet it'd be SO worth it though - doing a job you'd love doing 8)

Still have to fill in the paperwork and be trained up first, so it will be around october... I can't wait :P

My girl has her first ever interview for Fat Face next week.

I don't hold out too much hope - they have asked all interviewees to come in their normal casual garb,to show what their personality is like.

Unfortunately my daughter has taken this to mean that her regular ripped T Shirt, buttock skimming shorts, piercings & tatty hair extensions will be fine

Evidently they will be delighted to employ her anyhow,& she doesn't see why she should have to make even the smallest compromise on 'being herself'.

Give me strength.

My son has still had no luck with a job although he has managed to get some work experience during the October half term.

DD was in Hollister in Southampton a couple of weeks ago and was approached by the manageress to see if she wanted an interview for a job. As she is only 14 she will have to wait for a while and I wouldn't really want her working at Hollister anyway. It is typical that something like that happens for her though!

Urgh Hollister - give me strength. Would it kill them to buy some lightbulbs? and to stop spraying all the clothing with their hollister perfume??

When we went for a look around there, dad walked in "HAS THERE BEEN A POWERCUT?!" the poor woman standing at the door did an awkward laugh as if she's heard it all before... of course I pretended I wasn't with him ;)

Just updating this with the news that Cleo,my 16 year old daughter, has been offered a job today :P

It is at 'Oil & Vinegar', which is re opening in Reading.......they took her on on the spot!

Just weekends, but a really great rate of pay (only a few pence an hour less than me!)

Downside is that it is a short term lease until January, although they are looking to extend it or find other premises, but even if it is just until then,it will be good experience for her & will look good on her CV...PLUS 'Oil & Vinegar' is one on my favourite shops!!!!!

It was so lucky.

I was in town on wednesday, but the shop where it is going to be situated was empty....went in on Thursday (unplanned) & there was a sign up,so I came home & emailed them,& they emailed her back within 5 minutes.

It opens tomorrow, her interview was this morning & she starts next week :P

Right place,right time I think.
