CatieB
I know there are some real ebay experts on here so your help would be appreciated. I hope this makes sense. I am watching an item. There is one listing and one bid on the listing. In the item description it refers to the fact they have two identical items available but that you are bidding for one of them. There are not two listed and not two items available at the top where it says items and bids. I wonder if they will then offer the second item to the next highest bidder. Is this allowed? Surely if I now bid, as there is a bid on it, I am making the item price artificially high, whereas if there were two items listed and just two buyers they would go for the original price. Or am I over thinking this??? It just seems odd
Ain't Nobody Here
I'm surprised there are 2 available if it's an auction and not Buy It Now . How do you know which one you are buying? I agree, it's confusing. Hopefully someone else will have come across this before!
Cooks
they may have already sold one and not edited the listing. have you checked their previous sales?
CatieB
Yes it is an auction, and they are both in the picture. Although they are identical items so it wouldn't matter which you got I can't help feeling that the listing is unfair as people are bidding on one listing and so the price will go higher. Cooks
maybe choose not to bid then if your uncomfortable? i havent seen the listing but i would go on how you feel, theres penty of other listings
CatieB
They are unusual second hand items and I would really like one- there aren't others like them listed. However as I've mentioned it seems an unfair way of bidding as it will raise the price and I suspected it may be against the rules but I don't know and wanted to see if anyone did know. Redwing
I'm not sure about Ebay rules The practice is common in normal auctions, the highest bidder gets the chance to take a second/third/fouth identical item - its the priviledge they get as the highest bidder. The person who loses takes the risk as to whether the highest bidder wants the additional items The additional items are usually listed as a lot in the catologue but you possibly could not do things exactly the same on Ebay as if the second item has a bid on it I'm not sure you could withdraw it.. If your second item doesnt sell to the original bidder I expect it will then be listed for others to have a crack at
CatieB
Maybe just message them & ask if the other is available??? If you would like me to take a look at the listing, then drop me a link in a pm - very happy to do so,& see what I can see Thank you so much I have sent you the link. I have contacted the seller who says that most of the people that have contacted them are interested in having both so they intend to offer the winner the second item (I assume at the same price)
Cinnamon
Haven't looked yet,as I am on my phone, but if they are selling the second item along with the first, then that is fee avoidance and very much against eBay rules. You can get your account suspended for that,as a seller or a buyer.
