quickcluck
This is my friend chick, a bantam, not sure on the age, but youngish ... boy or girl??? This is Myrtle.. I thought she was a mottled pekin but there are no feathered feet so what could she be?
fluffy chick
looks boy like to me but Im not an expert! Myrtle looks exactly like my mottled pekin but without the feathered feet no help sorry. Maybe a cross
The Dogmother
Myrtle is a cross by the looks of it, but still a pretty girl. Can't see the other bird clearly enough to make a judgement but those hackle feathers look long to me....
Redwing
The chick is a boy I'd say Myrtle looks like a Pekin/Wyandotte cross possibly
quickcluck
Thanks guys. My poor friend...... She's quite new to it all. What age will he stop cheep cheeping and crow?
Daphne
Hi, I'd say boy as well. Crowing age is variable, perhaps 12-16 weeks for the trial squawking, but it can be earlier. Your friend might be lucky and find the winter depresses much full on crowing (or maybe not!) If Myrtle isn't a dotte/pekin or similar cross, then she could possibly be a mottled orpington or a cross involving a MO, although I can't quite make out the colour of the beak. They aren't very common so its not particularly likely, but there is something orpy like about the head and fluffy skirtage.
quickcluck
Thanks Daphne.... I'll let my friend know when to expect the crowing, she's trying not to panic! Not sure if she'll keep him or take him back to where he came from..... I'm not worried what Myrtle is I got her for her colouring, did you see the pic of sally the seagul in another post? we're still not much closer to knowing what she is!
