Steve Jobs

Recommended Posts

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life,” Jobs said. “Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

RIP

My first job after graduating was working for an Apple software company. My first computer was a Lisa II - the precursor to the first Macintosh and I've subsequently spent a good part of my working life in high tech firms and writing about the socio-economic impact of technology. The man was a genius and the legacy he will leave on our lives in terms of the technology (which we all take for granted already!) will be immense; its real life changing stuff in my opinion. And I do sometimes wonder if the design of the eglu was influenced at all by the design of the Mac! RIP Steve Jobs.

Very sad that he has died so young :( . Who knows what other innovations he might have given the world :( .

That's true, but I think of it the other way around; thank goodness he did things when he thought of them, which I think is a sign of a genius, rather than waiting.

He achieved so much in a short life, I admire his drive and philosophy, it's too easy to put off ideas and action until later, he just made things happen.

R.I.P. It is a sadly short life, but he's had a great impact on many lives.

So sad, 56 is no age.

Someone else who used a Lisa 8) I was working in the holidays after my first year at uni and had come to the realisation that I would never make it to the end of a maths degree and using a Lisa inspired me to change to Computer Science. I was so disappointed when I graduated and realised how primitive PCs were compared to the Lisa

Sad - but I too concur with Teabag's philosophy.

A young colleague has just been commenting on Steve Job's personal wealth, and I repeated another of his comments (I may have paraphrased this slightly) - 'There's no point being the richest man in the cemetery'.

I just heard on the radio that the Westborough Baptist Church are planning to picket his funeral. They really are unpleasant people, they featured on a Louis Theroux programme. Unbelievably intolerant and feel its their job to shout obscenities at the funer als of people they don't like. Apparently Steve Jobs didn't give enough credit to god.

I heard this on FB. Ironically they've been tweeting their views from an iphone! Courage of their convictions gave way to convenience then.

So sad Steve Jobs has gone at only 56. RIP
