Flaming June and sodden July

Recommended Posts

We've had a proper downpour this afternoon with a bit of thunder. We are predicted rain for the next 5 days, so I think the wet weather system is heading south now.

thanks for that Ginette!

Hastily: But then weather can get blown past more quickly than they thought, there are always pockets of different weather or it might just go somewhere else instead - France perhaps? Hope so!

I spoke too soon! Its rained here for the last 4 hours now. Got home to find the girls in the cube run resembling a scene from the trenches of the Somme. Had to move it onto drier land.. poor ladies had mud up to their ankles... just like Lizzy in Pride and Prejudice eh? And no skirts to hide them!

Off to the Eglu and Cube section to beg for bigger covers for the cube and extension... am using the tatty old winter shade on it now. :shameonu: Just not classy enough....

Hurry up and go east, dratted rain (sorry to all of you in Kent)

We've just had a tremendous thunder storm - and a good couple of inches in half an hour

We are in the process of making steps from the back of the conservatory up onto the lawn - they are now our new water feature :(

The lawn - which we've only just managed to make look like a lawn - is all lakes :(

The island on the road at the end of the drive is flooded...........

It can only be better tomorrow? :?

Er, no.

There was a severe weather warning on the local news re flooding and more rain :(:roll: .

As well as the bit about the Severn Valley railway being half washed away there was some amazing footage from a mobile phone of about 18 inches of water washing up and down the inside of a West Midlands Travel no. 11 bus with passengers on. I think it was in Witton (very close to Aston Villa and the centre of Birmingham, for non-midlanders).

We had a dry but dull afternoon.

Managed to give both Eglus and runs a thorough cleaning....power wash and all.

Feeling very virtuous and the hens smell divinely of Lavender and Tea Tree now, courtesy of Barrier Red Mite Powder.

Sprinkled lime on their "free Ranging" area and so there is not a whiff of hens to be found.

Of course it is pouring with rain as I type this, but the sun is shining!

Family picnic tomorrow in Manchester.....annual grand reunion of all the cousins, aunts uncles etc so it is bound to rain!!

we've got a beautiful evening here now, but there's obviously been heavy rain as the bottom of the field would look like Glastonbury given half a chance! forecast for tomorrow not at all good, so have cleaned out eglu after we got back from a day out in case I cant get out to do it tomorrow. also fossicked about with the compost heaps a bit, so am now enjoying a large glass of red wine!

Same here Claire

Vile, vile weather  I've had to go and rod the soakaway drain again - full of sewage because the septic tank is full - and backing up towards the house  We're going to have to pay another £125 to have it emptied - for the fourth time  . It should only need doing every three to five years.

As a new build house, we should not be having these problems every time it rains - I'm going to be on to the Building Regs. Inspector tomorrow - I have a feeling that the people who lived here in a caravan for 20 years, and who built this house, re-used the old soakaway and it was probably never built properly in the first place

You don't need drainage problems in this weather, Lesley. I hope you get it all sorted, and good luck with building regs too!

Any chance of a reed bed (or whatever the green alternative is) in the future to deal with the sewage?

This weather has got to me too now.

I feel really down today, just uninspired, fed up,cold & miserable.

My Kos tan has all but gone, the chickens need cleaning out & the washing can't do on the line so is dripping off the radiators (which I might just have to switch on)

My 2 gorgeous new sunbeds are still unused & are sat in the garden, taunting me!

Somebody say something to cheer me up :?

Hi Cinnamon,

I know the feeling it is still raining in our front bedroom!

We had a couple of hours of glorious sunshine this morning whilst we cleaned the run out but it's raining again now! :(

It's just global warming changing the seasons around a bit. Last November was better that June has been!

Just look forward to having your Christmas dinner al fresco on the patio in blazing sunshine!! :D:D:D

I wish.

I am sure July will be a scorcher.:wink:

Try not to let it dampen your spirits, pardon the pun.

And it isn't raining in the pub!

Kev.
