Bramble
A possible bidder on an item I have listed on ebay has asked me if I would be prepared to accept a Postal Order for payment. My immediate reaction is "no" (too much hassle etc) but don't want to be unhelpful. I know I don't have to accept anything other than paypal as a means of payment, but what would you guys do? Still new to this Ebay lark and it never ceases to amaze me the "issues/questions" that arise!
chickencam
I have accepted payment by postal order a couple of times when i still accepted cheques, but I decided that despite the charges paypal is just so much easier. You just pay a postal order into the bank like cash or cheques, if the item is under £10 I would consider it, but would much rather paypal. Cinnamon
PO's are easy, plus you can cash them at the same time that you mail the item off,at the Post office. Make sure you get the sort that isn't the one that can only be paid into a bank, though (check on the Royal Mail website...I think it is the uncrossed one)
majuka
I have accepted the ones that you cash in at the PO because my local PO is a short walk down the road for me. I don't like to have to make a special trip into town to go to the bank to pay anything in though (unless it was for quite a high value item). Ain't Nobody Here
I've accepted POs and cheques before with no problems. It's a bit of a hassle having to physically go and cash it/pay it in but I'm so close to a PO/bank I'm not too bothered. With a cheque the main hassle is having to hang onto the item till the cheque's cleared . You decide, based on how inconvenient it would be for you . Bramble
Thanks everyone for the replies. I went back to the bidder and said "yes" - I'm assuming s/he doesn't have a bank account which must make ebay impossible to use most of the time, so in the interests of trying to be helpful I said I'd take a PO. It will be a bit more of a hassle, but, my local PO (which has always been impossible for me to get to during opening hours) will be permanently open from 7am-6pm from the beginning of December, so that'll help loads! Thanks for your advice!
