sabidtech
Inspired by Migsy's similar thread - does anyone have a least favourite breed of chicken? i.e. one they would never consider owning? I wonder if anyone mentions aseel hens..............
Redwing
Aseel/Asil birds are very nice I dont have any breeds that I dont like, apart from a few waifs and strays I am very happy with the breeds I have now Of ones I have had I wouldnt have Faverolles or Polands again
sabidtech
Aseel cockerels are hugely popular & valued in Pakistan. Unfortunately that's due to cockfighting
PeckyBeak
Of ones I have had I wouldnt have Faverolles or Polands again I would be interested to know why Redwing, as thinking of adding more of these to my flock?
docsquid
I'm not over-keen on the really stretched-looking game birds, but actually like all chooks, pretty much. I have a very long list of "must own at some time" hens too!
Chortle Chook
Alas, I too have a long list of 'must have at some time chooks' Out of those I have had but don't think I want again . . . (and I know loads of people will hate me for this) . . . I'd not have Pekins. Though really pretty and rather sweet they were just not chickeny enough for me. It was all to do with the noise they make. I wanted chickens that made real chicken noises and the three I had (now owned by my best friend) made guinea pig noises. Redwing - why not Faverolles? I know Polands take a lot of individual TLC so I can understand that, but I had Faverolles on my 'must have one day' list.
Griffin
I don't do Pekins either, the only ones I've had, and Pekin crosses too, have been really really noisy.
tracyann
Well, now theres a thing, I was desperate for some orpingtons, but since having my wheaten marans and their feathery feet in all the mud, I have changed my mind. I'm now not having any more feathery footed hens, not one particular breed in mind, but am steering clear of feathery feet!! Can't bear to see them caked in mud. Redwing
Orpingtons dont have feathery feet Their fluff is quite close to the ground though so its probably wise not to get any if you have lots of mud Wyandottes are better, no feathery feet and they arent so fluffy

Cinnamon
I am not keen on black chickens. Don't know why,but I just like gingery ones or white ones more..... It might be because I can see them easier from my window,in the hens pen
chicken bark
Until a few days ago I would have said Naked Necks but having seen some in the flesh I have changed my mind! I like most breeds but wouldn't own a Dutch bantam boy again - I just didn't get on with his crow. I much prefer other crows.
craftyhunnypie
Not keen on the ' game' varieties & I don't really like the Yokohama's. Emma.x

It might be because I can see them easier from my window,in the hens pen Snap, Cinnamon. I too find that black ones seem to vanish into the shrubbery so I like white ones or white based colours such as splash, cuckoo, barred and laced, but my favourite colours are all the permuations of ginger and red such as self ginger, chamois, millefleur. I think it goes back to pictures of hens in my childhood days
Luvachicken
I am not keen on black chickens. I have a phobia of black animals in general. I wouldn't like anything too big either. And, having now had my dear wyandottes for almost 6 months now, I don't think I would pick chickens with big crowns again, my wyandottes crowns are the perfect size Having a dumb moment - are they called crowns ?
