Popcorn
OOOOOooooooooooooooooooo.....I'm a HUGE musicals fan! Fave oldie has to be Carousel, and I love all the contemporary ones too. My husband hates them. He's says he just can't take a film seriously when they burst into song every five minutes. He like more of Ken Loach's realistic approach to films. I guess that's the escapism coming out in us muscial lovers. I think it would be great to burst into song at the drop of a hat, and have everyone know the words and the dance routine. Imagine how much fun your day would be
Mrs Frugal
Ooooh yes, wouldn't that be cool!! I love musicals too - Oliver is one of my favourites along with Evita, Grease and Blues Brothers!

Guest
I love musicals too. Oliver is a real favourite and I especially like Fagin's song at the end 'I'm reviewing the situation', but then there's 'Where is love', 'As long as he needs me . . .Oh yes he does need me'. I love them all actually. I became a secondary school music teacher because I wanted to do the shows. I'm not teaching now, but I was lucky to be the Musical Director for Grease, Oliver, O it's a lovely war, Joseph and Godspell. Then there's Les Miserables, absolutely fantastic. Mrs Frugal
Oh goodness, look at us lot! The title of the topic is "What's the worst film ever" and we've gone totally opposite again ! Worst movie EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD - Garfield The Movie. AAAAaaaargh! We had to take Ollie to see this with his friend for his birthday. What a load of old pants ! Ollie was rolling on the floor laughing while all LSH and I could do was !
Guest
Have to slightly disagree with you there, Kate. While it IS a bad movie, the fact that it has the delicious Brekin Meyer in it, more than makes up for the bad story line, and general awfulness of it. We went to the picture to see it twice....... Mrs Frugal
I lost the will to live half way through! I suppose I might have enjoyed it more if Tom Cruise had been in it but only a tiny bit more .
red
I rather like a musical too - and I don't mind a musical that's been made into a film but ... Paint Your Wagon - the movie? ... RUBBISH!!!
Mrs Frugal
*gasp* I love that film ! Clint Eastwood shouldn't have given up his day job to sing though, should he !
Crooked Chicken
Muriels Wedding - what a fab film - and all those ABBA songs - bit like a musical as I know all the words and sing along - G R E A T. And back to worst - well I saw something late of TV about a month ago about people getting off on watching car crashes - don't know what it was called "Crash??" possibly, but had to be the most tasteless film I had ever seen in my life - don't know why I continued to watch really - probably out of stunned amazement - rivolting. Oh dear - I see a pattern emerging - Shona likes all the dodgy films because she fancies the actors!
