Tassimo

Recommended Posts

OH and I bought ourselves our Christmas present yesterday. His idea. I've told myself for months that I'd get one when I could justify spending the money but seeing as it's Christmas...

We have a Tassimo T65 and I love it! I'm a coffee and hot chocolate drinker so I've been making my way through coffees, cappuccinos and lattes and I am loving Diary's hot chocolate.

If you haven't got one already (or something similar), get one! And no, I'm not getting paid comission.

Touch of a button - wonderful. I think we will end up spending a small fortune on T Pods though...:)

No, you're thinking about it entirely the wrong way...

I have a Dolce Gusto on my desk at work. I only drink black coffee so it works out around 25p per cup (white coffees take 2 pods so that's around 50p per cup)

However... it's a lot cheaper than going to the Costa in the canteen and paying around £1. 50 per cup.

So... you're actually saving money.

I like the idea but hate the waste in packaging materials for one cup of coffee, not very 'green'

You can 'up cycle' them for free, actually.

A company send out nice boxes to collect them in,you post them back when full for free & they get recycled into accessories & so forth - all very cool.

Well thats good news

The whole idea still doesnt sit well with me though, recycling is all very well but it would be better not to produce the packaging in the first place, I dont use sachets of sugar or drinking chocolate so wouldnt use individual portions of coffee, just my personal choice I dont feel the need to have endless choices of coffee at home either

Compared to the sort of coffee nromally drunk at home they are very expensive too - some of my friends have these machines and it amazes me the amount of things people who plead poverty see as essential

I will look into that, thanks cinnamon, what company is it? I did wonder if I could recycle the pods in some way. I recycle what I can of my household waste and buy solid soap and shampoos.

 I like your way of thinking PJ!

I'm not wealthy that's for sure but I have no regrets buying my Tassimo. I rarely treat myself. I love the taste of the coffees and the variety, I'm well pleased.

Off to look at Gaggia...

Wow, these coffee machines are bit of a minefield! Bean-to-cup, cost £100s+, anti-nescafe, expensive pods etc etc sooooo, in case it helps anyone, we chose a Philips Senseo because some clever so-and-so's invented reusable pods for it  (and it was cheap  and now we can escape the cost of expensive pods and use our own favourite coffee  )

The coffeeduck works really well and there's also the Melitta Padfilters and Eco Pads :) Our cup price is now slashed from 16p to a more normal 8p :) Coffeeduck also make refillable capsules for the nespresso but no such thing for the Tassimo, as it needs the barcodes on the pods.

The Senseo's £35 or £45 in Argos or the old one's £29 on Amazon. I'm so pleased with it that I bought a hot chocolate kit for DH and espresso kit for me from directcoffeepods so I'll having capuccinos soon

If you want PROPER espresso or a milk frother then it's not for you. I microwave my milk then whizz with my £2 Ikea frother - I had a lovely and cheap cinammon latte today :D:lol:

I never knew there were so many coffee machines readily available. I like the simplicity of the Tassimo. I've noticed now though that the Ducle Gusto is very popular too. I just can't work out what the lever is for - is it for hot and cold only or does the user have to move it in order to fill the cup to preferred level?
