The Dogmother
Unfortunately the little darlings round here don't want sweeties and other goodies, they expect money! Some of them are the size of Lennox Lewis, so are hard to refuse - I just keep the door shut. When the dog was alive, she would bark and growl (with my encouragement) at the door - that had them running off
Cinnamon
Clare, That chicken on your Avatar looks like she has got an attitude. Maybe you should post her on door duty for the evening
The Dogmother
I think I'll put one of the cats on the door; she's massively vicious!
red
I used to enjoy trick or treating. We only used to go down our road and a bit round the corner. My mum used to come with us cos we used to make ourselves scared and get too frightened to go it alone We used to eat any sweets we got and give any money we collected to a local charity - in those days we only used to get a few pence here and a few pence there so I don't suppose we ever collected very much but I remember Mum always used to take us to give the money eg to the local hospital / old folk's home
SarahJo
RED ... bless your mum ..... that is a good idea ... I don't like it when the boys get given money, instead of a biscuit, or something. But now .. if they are given any coins, they will be put into a charity box ... what a fab .
Cate in NZ
I'm a bit torn on this one. My children enjoy trick or treating, and they dress up and wander the neighbourhood, knocking on doors and "trick or treating". I'm a bit of a sucker for it really, I decorate the house with pumpkins and candles, and have sweets in for visitors. My children put quite a lot of effort into their costumes, and are only allowed to visit houses with pumpkins or other halloweeny decorations on display, as I think that suggests they're up for it. I'd be furious if I ever heard that they'd intimitadated anyone into giving them anything. But it's a recognised date in the calendar now- we all choose whether or not to answer the door on 31st Oct. Seb's "trick" is some truly dreadful jokes, Imy simply blows on a feather roll out whistle think, can't remember what they're called, but neither are hugely offensive in my opinion.
