I have a Sebo at the moment and agree that it is a really good vac. I've had it for 8 years and it is still going strong, but it is soooooo heavy going up all those stairs and my back has not got any better over the 8 years. Also an upright is probably not the best thing for wooden floors. It does have a way of attaching a nice long suction tube but when I use that I stretch too far and the whole thing falls over . My Mum says she wants my Sebo for her v. few stairs house, so I can get a new one with a clear conscience.

 

Looks like I should get me to a shop to do a lifting test on the Miele Cat and Dog and on the new small Dyson.

Yet another big fan of Miele Cat and Dog here.....me and my ex had a Miele White Pearl and when we split up he got custody and it was still going strong after 15 years, so when we split up I bought a Cat and Dog and love it!

I looked at Dysons, found they were good on carpets but didn't think much of the hose suction.

I have a Miele Dog and Cat which is great, picks up all the dog hair and is really well made. I also have a Henry which we use to clean the cars out, it is also good but not as well made however it is cheaper. Neither has ever gone wrong .

I did have a Dyson several years ago which was heavy and the motor did blow up on it when it was 6 weeks out of warranty.

I have had a few hoovers over the years and to be perfectly honest, and , if i could afford one . I would have a Miele.I do believe they are the best on the market. Nothing else to say.

Miele..............longest surviving vac and sucking as good as it did when I got it. I got through 3 dysons(the original was the best but not after that). Sister had a miele and then got a sebo (didnt like it). Her Miele is used in my garage for hoovering as a spare(hoovers mud and dust off horse etc etc) and it sucks good...but its battered.

 

Downside of miele you buy bags. But they last ages

Miele have the weights of the machines on their website. They also do a lightweight one now.

 

On a side note I can't get over how dear Dyson are as aren't they made in China now. Also can't get my head around hoovering up dust and dirt but having to empty all that out into a bin

Upstairs I have aVax Mach 3 (or something like that). It's flippin heavy! Downstairs there's the Dyson purple pull along one. It's ok, but I find it fiddly as hell! We also have 'Bob' who is our robotic cleaner from Samsung. That is the only one where I'm not sneezing all the time. But Bob's in the naughty corner since he came back from being 'fixed' as he's very noisy now

I have now come up with a solution...I need a cleaner to do the work for me

I've got the Dyson slimline upright, not sure they make it now, but it's not heavy and I'm only small and can quite easily carry it up and down stairs. My mum recently bought me a Dyson city, which is the little cylinder one as I do find the cylinder ones are better when using the tools, so good for hoovering out the car. It's really light and has great suction.

After having a Dyson for 10 years I then got an Oreck. It is fantastic . It leaves lovely stripes in the carpet , even the flat old carpet. It is very light and if you buy from QVC you can try it for 30 days first. I am very happy with it and it has a 10 year guarantee.

If anyone is after one Currys currently have a bargain Miele They've an even cheaper one but it's not a Cat and Dog one.

Tip: From the Dyson engineer who came to work to sort our ball dyson ( at work) - its rubbish by the way - buy an old DC07 and get a service booked - for about £70 you will get everything done to it and replaced free of charge - in other words you end up with almost a new machine!. He says they were the best - I have the DC07 animal and he says they are great machines.

I love my Miele Cat & Dog.

It's only a second hand one, given to me by my Mum as hers was looking a bit tatty.

It's still going strong though- my Dyson has never been used since the Miele arrived
