Garvo alternative recommendations please

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am having difficulty getting a regular supply of Garvo layers pellets, much to my disappointment. The place I have been getting it from only ever seems to have Alfamix and Mixed Corn in stock recently, so I am looking for an alternative which is as good as Garvo if there is such a thing.

I used to give the girls Ex Batt Crumbs, but they were laying a lot of softies as well as making a mess with the crumbs- which is why I tried Garvo, with excellent results.

Any recommendations for a good layers pellet would be much appreciated.

I used to use Garvo Alpha mix but found that my chooks always hoovered up the dried grubs in it and left the rest so I worried about them getting a good balanced diet. They are now very happy with Omlet's organic crumbs which they really seem to like. I think it is actually made by Marriages but could be wrong. I do put the odd table spoon of Garvo treats in there and it seems to me to work every bit as well as Garvo Alpha mix.

It's a sort of treat of mixed grains and dried shrimps

Chickens are omnivores and out in the open they would naturally eat vegetation, berries and insects, in addition to seeds. Alfamix chickens gives a natural balance, as it contains shell grit, vegetables and dried lobster, in addition to the seeds. The food contains healthy fatty acids (for example from linseed) and natural carotene. The composition makes the food complete, specifically balanced to keep your chickens’ perfectly healthy and help develop a high level of natural resistance.

They love it but it's far too expensive to feed regularly.
