patsylabrador
Just in time. Good luck. I'm very interested to hear how you feel during it. My mobile has become part of me now and I use the Wii most days. I think our gadgets suppress skills but they're such fun and a good resource - and dreadful time wasters. Have fun. The Dogmother
I won't ring you before I tip up tomorrow then! Like the idea and I'm all for it... I switch my mobile off at 6pm, and apart from an excursion onto the laptop around this time, I'm hardly ever using anything apart from the hoover or iron. lillybettybabs
i find that we all sit in one room but engrossed in either laptops or tv and don't talk. The oldest stepson isn't keen as he won't be able to message his girlfriend so in the name of love we have a 10min window to answer phones at around 4pm tomorrow but that's it. Bye for now xxx *gulp*

The Dogmother
I'll see how she's going when I pop round later to walk the dogs. I wonder if her OH will be able to go without his biiiig TV, or if he'll be off to the pub to watch footie.

The Dogmother
Well, they've been very good - all gadgets have been impounded, 2 step-sons have gone through the boredom barrier and are subjecting the kitten to guitar practice... the big telly is off
AJuff
ohh Look forward to hearing the results of this one . . . . lillybettybabs
Wow... well we have had the relaxing weekend ever! The boys played on their drum kits and guitars, We had really long chats that made the time fly, We had every meal at the dinner table and not in separate places,The boys didn't argue at all and did EVERYTHING they where asked to do first time. I managed to get the fence at the side of the house painted and the bird table, I made a start on tidying the gardens up. Had lots of hen cuddles (well one is looking like a cockerel now) dogs had lots of training . We had a visit from two VERY beautiful lurchers (lots of cuddles) and DM. I did an award ceremony at the end for "The person who got the most out of it" and " The person who made the most creative use of their time" i did this in Oscar style The only thing well all missed where our mobile phones (oldest S son has a girlfriend ) I now set the challenge down to all families with lots of gadget to try it. You'll be amazed on how much it strengthens the bond between you all,the best nights sleep you have had, how relaxed you fell and how much you get done. The Dogmother
Glad that it went well Karen, the boys certainly seemed happy enough jamming in the living room - will have to bring Rosie and her guitar next time so they can make a REAL racket! As I've said, I try not to use any gadgets at home, although I do have the ipod on the dock for music sometimes. I have a fast rule about turning my mobile off when I get in (unless I'm expecting a call) but will get Rosie to do it too in future. Reminds me a bit of the general strikes of the Winter of Discontent... we had no electric for days on end and lived with candle light after dark... we played loads of board games, sewed, read and generally enjoyed ourselves around the battery powered wireless. I loved that time.
Forestchook
Well done. I'm glad it went well. I have a fast rule about turning my mobile off when I get in I don't necessarily turn my mobile off but I ignore it when I'm home. TBH I often ignore it when I'm out too. My mobile is for emergencies, texting or if I know someone may need to or is going to contact me when I'm out and about. I was quite annnoyed to see mobile number was a required field on an online job application I filled in recently. Since my phone does not bother to tell me about voice mail messages until its about to delete them (and I'm not about to wate time or credit listening to them then) I did not want it used as a primary means of contacting me!
