Willow
Actually it may not need a serious expert just someone a bit more knowledgeable on ebay than me I bought a coupleof smallish items on 2nd April and patiently waited as it was a couple of bank holidays. I checked the seller when they still hadn't turned up yesterday and on ebay it says it's awaiting payment but when I check my paypal account it says payment went on the 2nd April I emailed the seller but have't had a reply yet So is this payment discrepancy normal ? I can't quite see how there is a discrepancy when it was a buy it now so no auction and I paid immediately using paypal ?
superkitty
If the payment is to come out of your bank account (I.e. you haven't got a balance actually in your PayPal account for the payment to come from) it can sometimes take a while to clear. But PayPal can be pretty glitchy sometimes, I've found - so it might not be that at all
Willow
Thanks I hadn't thought of that but I checked and in this case Paypal made the payment on my credit card so shouldn't have been a delay for funds.
Duncan08
I have had the same problem. Contact the seller directly to let them know so you don't get bad feedback, and then check with PayPal and the seller on the best way to resolve. Chookiehen
I've had this, as a seller. I can't quite remember why, but for some reason, with one particular buyer, I had to physically log in and accept the paypal payment before it showed as having been paid. Have you used this card via paypal before?
WitchHazel
Is the seller a fairly new seller? It may be that he has the most basic Paypal account, which doesn't accept credit card payments, in which case he would need to upgrade to be able to accept your payment. Or, it might be that the email address that the payment went to is not correct - but that's unlikely if you used buy it now and Ebay prepopulated all the details for you (unless the seller entered his details incorrectly). Hope you get it sorted out soon - would be interested to hear what the outcome is.
Chookiehen
I'm sure I got an email from ebay recently saying that they had resolved checkout problems that they had been having with paypal. That may have something to do with it, maybe?
Willow
I contacted the seller who say Royal mail have lost my goods and on the second email where I gave a time limit for them to reply before I would be handing it over to ebay to resolve they replied and they are resending. I guess I'll know if they are telling the truth if they need me to fill out forms to say I haven't received the original package, if I don't get any forms I'll know they were lying... So hopefully they have sent it out now and I'll get what I ordered. No explanation about the not paid note against the items on ebay so I wonder if they haven't updated from their side on ebay to say they received payment . Not necessarily. The Royal Mail require the sender to fill out the form & make the claim, then they (the sender) refunds the buyer or addressee. They do not always need the addressee to verify that the parcel has not been received - I think I have only had to do this once & I have had MANY parcels go 'missing' over the years, either as a sender or as a buyer. Personally speaking I think you have nothing to lose by starting the items not received process now. You can end it if & when the item arrives with you,& should this not happen you will be saving yourself a lot of time,as eBay give a week before any claim can be made. It will also give the seller a kick up the bottom & get him to post your item/replacement item that much quicker.
Chucky Mama
I do have some sympathy for people if things truly do go missing. So many posties fail to leave calling cards if you are out. If they think Royal Mail have lost the packages I would log on to royalmail.com and fill in a redelivery form online asking them to redeliver anything they may be holding for you. You don't need a 'sorry you were out' card or any reference numbers, just leave those bits blank. Put the date that you should have received the package as the date. If nothing arrives within 2 working days you can then assume that it is lost or was never sent. I would then start a case in the Paypal resolution centre which will freeze the payment in Paypal until things are resolved.
Willow
Seller sent the items recorded delivery yesterday after responding to my email and they turned up this morning, she threw in an extra pair of earrings as an apology for the delay (I'd ordered a couple of items of relatively inexpensive silver jewellery. I suspect she just forgot to process the order until I sent the email Sarah saidPersonally speaking I think you have nothing to lose by starting the items not received process now. I haven't bought much via ebay yet and didn't know how long was reasonable to wait before doing this.
