jaspersmum
I went out to give the girls their corn yesterday evening and our elderly speckeldy Matilda had somehow managed to catch herself a mouse. I then spent 20 mins bent double with laughter as a bizarre relay race ensued as the girls trotted back and forth around the run casually chasing the current holder of the mouse until they could catch her and relieve her of her prize. The only thing that could have made it any funnier would have been the Benny Hill soundtrack playing in the background! (Hmmm...perhaps I should enter them for Britain's Got Talent next year?) Happily Matilda finally took posession of her mouse and hunkered down in the corner of the dust bath growling until the others left her alone to finish the treat Chickens, you gotta love them! Luvachicken
One of my old chickens caught a toad once and spent ages running around with its back legs hanging out of her beak It was too big to swallow and eventually she had to give it up and one of the slightly bigger girls had it instead. Cheeky Chooky
I remember Betty, a Goldline I had once, gobbling down a mouse in one go I love watching my girls chasing each other around the run when one of them has found a huge worm
jaspersmum
Bless. All of our current girls are terrified of worms! We don't give them free run of the garden any more due to their expert landscaping skills and the local foxes. Our sadly departed Maisie chook used to LOVE worms and would always assist with digging by diving into any hole you made to clear it of worms for you. After some energetic gardening recently we threw a handful of worms in to our current girls' run as a treat and they all ran away and hid in the corners shaking until we took the worms out again. Chickens, I'll never understand them...

percy049
I often see the hens chasing eachother around the garden for a piece of bread or something, and never fails to make me laugh. However, when they're chasing eachother for something they've found, I dread to look what it is
