Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I noticed this bag in M&S just before the Jubilee celebrations.. it was marketed as ‘British Bag’… look closely at the label and see where it’s made!

Cakes and knickers is about all I buy in M&S too. And not cakes very often either. BOOOOOOO to M&S and their 'British' bag.

Ohhh, thats naughty! (The bag being made in China not purchase of cake and knickers !!!)

 

IMHO shops should listen to the consumer and provide what we want to buy rather than thinking they know best - theres nothing wrong with good old consumer panels !

So many things are made in China these days that I'm not surprised

 

I'm having some bedroom furniture delivered from them tomorrow, so I will see if it says where that has been made

 

It's not just M&S though, a few months ago OH and I bought an expensive bathroom cabinet from JL. We had a total of 4 cabinets before we gave up trying to find one where the doors met, the glass wasn't damaged etc. When we looked at the box, yep made in China

Its no different really to large corporations using Indian (or wherever) call centres - it is simply more cost effective.

 

Yes,it is sad & yes there should be more home produced goods on sale in the UK,but we live in a world where instant,cheap gratification is required,& these countries can produce for the mass market quickly & very,very cheaply

I suspect that about 90% of all the union jack emblazoned stuff around the high streets at the moment is from overseas too.

Not all retailers have the neck to call it 'British' though!

I bought some cheap and cheerful flatpack furniture recently, from Argos, and was very surprised to see it was British made

I have a clear recollection that lots of "St Michael" trade marked goods were made in Israel and/or Hong Kong so I don't think that much has changed really !

No, it hasn't really, but in our straitened times we buy more form countries offering cheap labour and production when what we really ought to be doing is supporting our own economy as much as we can.
