Ain't Nobody Here
For those that don't know, the roof blew off the special school I work in back in January. After 10 long months camping out in an empty primary school at the opposite end of the city, we are finally moving back . I'm at the old school this week and next co-ordinating everything coming out of storage. It's still like a building site but I'm assured it'll be finished by half term in 2 weeks time and ready for all the stuff coming from the school we're leaving. It's going to be fantastic, so much more space and light but we've lost a lot of storage space so that'll be a challenge .
snowberry
That'll be fantastic for you all! I remember you saying that it meant further travelling for the children to go to the other school site. I hope you all settle in quickly!

Charlottechicken
That is good news! About time you had some The primary school my friend's two children go to partially burnt down just before the Royal Wedding last year, in school time! Everyone was evacuated safely but quite a few of the teachers lost precious wedding memorabelia in an exhibition they had going on at the time, including one wedding dress and a whole set of photos. My friend lives across the road but was at work, her MIL was in the house and she let a tv crew in to film from my friend's bedroom The children were sent to a 18th century building about 20 minutes walk away, which they christened Hogwarts It took them just over a year to rebuild and the children are all now back at school, thankfully. Even though it was a great adventure for the children and they all seemed to cope, I bet the logistics of it all were a nightmare for staff, it was awkward enough for parents. wannabe smallholder
Good luck with everything! A couple of years ago our school ceiling collapsed over the Christmas holidays after really bad snow and ice damaged pipes. We had to move two classes to an unused area of school for a couple of months which was bad enough so its amazing what you have had to deal with. And as for not enough storage... Do schools ever have enough???
Ain't Nobody Here
It's kind of hard to imagine we'll be a fully functioning school in 3 weeks' time when you look at the photo below but I'm assured by various foremen/project managers etc, that it'll all be done in time. I'm actually really enjoying myself - wish I'd been in on the whole project, there are a few things I'd have changed, like some power/IT sockets which have been put in a really useless place, a door that we really don't need and a massive disabled toilet which is such a waste of space.
