Has anyone else done this to themselves?

While MS was having a horrible time, longterm unemployed, he had a little money from a handyman type job and bought me a little present. A bracelet made of a skull on a leather strap. It was very precious to me though not very pretty. I put it on and decided I wouldn't take it off until he had a job.

His luck changed and he is employed and happy but I can't bring myself to take it off, I'm almost scared to. I've told myself that if it breaks and I lose it that doesn't count.

But how crazy is that, am I alone?

The bargain you made with yourself was that you

. The bargain was not "I'll wear it and he'll get a job".

I agree with WitchHazel; I know I would find it hard too but it has worked its charm and its time to move on! Take it off, say a little 'thank you' ...keep it in a safe place as its special to you and keep smiling

I used to do that with charms, but broke the habit; as the others have said... it has worked now.

Thank you for your comments. I've sorted out a little gauze bag to put it in. That's as far as I've got.

Sorry, but I couldn't take it off. It would have to wear off with me. I believe in all stuff like that, so would definitely feel how you do.

In my opinion,if you like wearing it & it has meaning for you,then carry on wearing it.

Don't feel that you should take it off, but then again if you want to take it off,then do

 

If you have a little bag for it,maybe keep it in your handbag,so its with you a lot of the time?

I would wear it until it fell off. My es made me a bracelet many, many years ago. Was made of plastic string stuff and it eventually broke and was unwearable after that. Although I've still got it I do feel I've lost something or perhaps I'm trying to recapture the innocence of his childhood, those days seem so long gone now. I still hold it, wistfully. Alli x
