Janepie33
I seem to have acquired a huge red NHS ambulance towel. I was going to donate it to charity, but was wondering if any knows if the ambulance service would want it back and how to return it?! Snowy
I've no doubt they would be grateful for it's return! Just pop it in to your nearest ambulance station.
Cooks
I work for the NHS and agree with snowy, I would just drop it back when you are passing... Every little bit helps.
Old Speckled Hen
But would they? I was in my local auction house....they do stuff every week and most of it is like freecycle stuff. There was a box with maybe 30 crutches of all descriptions in it. I asked the chap why there were so many and he said the NHS won't take them back to use for other patients so even though somebody has had them for a week or so they are thrown out. Amazing waste! Plum
Rubbish, there's usually a sticker and bar code with a telephone no. If they ring it can be collected. Loads of money goes down the drain as equipment gets used as clothes dryers and sent to car boot sales.
bluekarin
My local hospital has a cage near the front door for used crutches and a department specifically to refurbish things like that, so that does sound a bit odd.
Old Speckled Hen
i've had a mooch through cyberspace and it seems you're right......shame they weren't returned
The Dogmother
They were very keen for us to return all the bits and pieces that Rosie had after her accident. Our local branch of Red Cross was fabulous, renting out equipment (for donations) which the hospital didn't supply; they can always make use of anything you have knocking around. It is in South Somerset when Dad was given a whole load of sticks and things for when he was recovering from his hip op, but I don't think it's the case in Dorset, across the border. LolaLayla
Agree it depends on the area. We had stuff that was returned or had been collected that was then just thrown out
