Willow
I love seeing family, although dreading Christmas this year without my dad. Fortunately we had a big family Christmas last year and he was very much a big part of it (and just typing that has made me cry ) I love decorating my tree, we've collected decorations every holiday/overseas trip so decorating the tree is full of memories. I love nativity sets (Catholic ) and have several different sorts from different countries I hate buying presents, I used to love it but I've pretty much used up any good ideas years ago I hate the commercialism of shops the 3 months coming up to Christmas, I'd like to see it go back to being a simpler holiday but it never will. I don't do any preparations until December. I love Christmas dinner and other Christmas specific food.
The Dogmother
I love the family aspect to Christmas too Willow; we have some old/infirm parents/outlaws too, so it may be the last for a couple of them. My mother has got a lot worse in recent months, and Phil's dad is very frail with heart failure My ex always comes for Christmas lunch as he doesn't have any family. My sister stays away as we don't do TV or computer games here and she hates animals. Rosie and I always take food down to Polly on Christmas Eve; she's a local lady who (voluntarily) feeds the local homeless every single day at 6pm. She manages on donations from individuals and local companies/food shops.
Luvachicken
Chocolate sprouts . . .now these I have to buy. Don't get too excited - they are just choccies covered in sprout like foil, rather like chocolate coins. But they come in a sprout type net bag & I think they are super cute Yay, I am off to M and S tonight so I will be buying some of these. I hate sprouts and my parents - for a laugh - gave me one of those sprout truncheons for a Christmas pressie. Yuck, even the chickens didn't like them I love all things sparkly, my Christmas tree with lots of coloured lights and home made decs, and I love seeing the little ones faces on Christmas morning. I hate people who don't put their hands over their mouths when they cough and sneeze. I would love guests to find my kitchen on Christmas Day when I have done all the cooking (and we don't have a dishwasher) I really don't like driving in the snow or anything slippy. But I think what I like the least is dark, grey days that are cold at the same time. What I won't like this year is not seeing our dear old dog ripping open her Christmas presents
Alis girls
Christmas ads - i love the M&S one and the Boots - the empty wheelchair and the nurse make me cry as it says " thanks for looking after my nan" blub blub. Theres a new Aldi one with a handsome bloke in his underpants advertising sparkling wine. I wont spoil it for you but I laughed out loud (been feeling low) and YS sick with a cough - laughed and then had a coughing fit so that made me feel guilty. Appeals to me a handsome hunk in undies. Space Chick
I love nights in with a nice coal fire. I dislike the commercialism. It's also hard as I lost my Mum a few days before Christmas, it was 13 years ago this year and it still breaks my heart as she loved Christmas
Mrs Webmuppet
My favourite things are seeing the look on my friends and familys faces (in a good way that is )when they get my homemade pressies (edible and knitted)...they know how much time has gone into them rather than just buying something in the high street. I also love being part of my church family this time of year and getting involved in all the special Christmas services. I hate the commercialism, it gets worse every year. Hence the homemade pressies! The supermarkets become total nightmare places.....and why does everything come in whopping great packs this time of year, there's only three of us Webmuppets. I have voted with my feet....meat ordered from a butchers and veggies ordered from the farm (where I get my tree from, they grow them on the farm). I also detest the works Christmas bash too (I'm just anti social I know).....fortunately I have choir practice this year on the same evening. Mrs Webmuppet
Thanks for the tip off about the M&S chocolate sprouts ......they are currently on 3for the price of 2........perfect for LMW stocking......she hates sprouts ( we have tried calling them bogey balls and barbie cabbages, I even grew some sprouts one year that the seed company said were ' child friendly').
