Chortle Chook
Have I got the plot wrong on 'The Archers' where someone has shot Wil's (or was it Ed's) dog? I only listen with half an ear but it seems as if the main concern is because George is upset. There is a sub theme about how upsetting Clary finds it because the two boys, Will and Ed, are at logger heads (as usual). "Ooops, word censored!"ody seems in the least upset about the dog himself
WitchHazel
Ed shot Will's dog. Ed and Will had nearly come to blows about the dogs a few days ago. Ed is very wound up becuase he believes that loose dogs brought in the infection that killed some of his cattle recently, so he's been trying to prevent people taking their dogs on his land. The other evening, Will lost control of Baz (who was a puppy) who ran off after a hare. Ed and his dad, Eddie, were out hunting rabbits. Ed saw a stray dog running across his land and, in a fit of temper, shot it. At the point of shooting, he did not know it was Baz. He was mortified as soon as he realised. Will turned up and believes that Ed killed Baz deliberately (i.e. knowing it was Baz and shooting because he believed it was Baz). Despite his dad trying to explain, Will will not have it any other way. He has also convinced his wife, Nic, that Ed did it deliberately. Nic is normally the reasonable one out of the two couples, and helps to get things sorted. However, this time she is siding with Will and so the quarrel is going to fester. Whilst I feel very sorry for Will about his dog, he has behaved appallingly. He demanded that Ed and Emma should tell George that Ed deliberately killed Baz. Ed refused because it wasn't true, and he couldn't see how that would help George. Will shouted that he wanted George to know what sort of person Ed is. (I can't believe that he would really want his son to have to deal with that!). ... I find it hard to warm to either character - I feel a bit of sympathy for Ed because Will is being such a (and has been behaving like an idiot for some time now, long before the dog incident). Chortle Chook
I can't quite get interested in Ed, Will, Will, Ed but I do feel sorry for poor Baz Now the plot about Darrel I find a lot more interesting

soapdragon
Puts me in mind of the time - about 20 years ago - that I took my (Archers MAD) mother to an Archers Addicts convention at Pebble Mill to meet the cast. I gave up completely when she told 'Eddie Grundy' that he wasn't as tall as he sounded and accosted 'Mike Tucker' to tell him that she would be very surprised if he got his compensation. I wandered off in high embarrassment clutching my soggy sarnie and got into conversation with a very nice, rather aristo chap who introduced himself as David. I remarked that I wouldn't forget that as OH is called David. We nattered on for ages with me saying that Mum was a bit of a fanatic but, quite honestly, I was a bit jaded with it, people took it too seriously etc . He was VERY sweet and we parted company after about 20 mins only to have Mum belting over and ask how I had enjoyed talking to David ARCHER!!!! AKA Tim something!!!! To cap it all, my Metro then broke down on the M40 on the way home!
chickencam
I met a rather tipsy Eddie Grundy at an outdoor concert at Sudely Castle about 10 years ago, he seemed a nice chap. A few of the cast did a short sketch and they had a stand selling merchandise. I was brought up on The. Archers, but haven't listened regularly since the lovely Nigel took a tumble. Soaps annoy me in all forms these days, why can't they let anyone live happily ever after?
Egluntyne
On the rare occasion that I listen to the Archers, all I can see in my head is a load of z list elderly actors standing round a microphone with scripts in their hands.
