Claireabella
I haven't been on the forum for a few weeks, been sooo busy at work and built a new WIR over the last few weekends too for Bluebell, Amber and Poppy (well, I helped! ) Yesterday I decided to visit the lovely lady who I've had my chickens from in the past to 'look' at the girls (my OH said strictly no more chickens ) but somehow the carrier was in the car and I just couldn't resist This is little Millie (gold partridge pekin) and Fleur (gold silkie X pekin). They are in a spare classic + run at the moment. Think I could have actually fitted two more in there
coco
Lovely girls. I've had an attack of morehens this week as well. A chamois appenzeller on Monday and a lavender pekin and silver laced wyandotte bantam on Wednesday,
Claireabella
Just had to google the chamois appenzeller as I'm new to pure breeds , wow, they are beautiful I wanted a silver laced wyandotte too and the breeder had some but they wasn't for sale Maybe next time... Claireabella
Thanks Luvachicken They are sweet little girls, very quiet compared to my thundering hybrids! I think they need a little time to settle in and get used to their new surroundings. Here is the new run although there is still lots to do! Kickboards, slabbing etc... The ladder and top floor is made from recycled bunkbeds that my daughter no longer wanted and some log roll! Very creative, my OH . Still not sure what to put up there though? Any ideas welcome?! The girls FR most of the day but they like to go up there when the sun shines to preen themselves

Claireabella
Thanks everyone It's so lovely to come on here and share chickeny stuff! I had a few days off work last week and when I got back yesterday one of my colleagues asked me what I'd been up to. I said "wrote a report on Wednesday, wrote an ethics proposal Thursday (I work in academia and I'm studying) and I got new chickens on Friday"!! He looked at me like I'd gone mad, getting so excited about having new chickens!! Feel like I'm living a double life; office job during the week, Parker coat and wellies at the weekend I think your run looks lovely - what colour have you painted it ? The paint was Wickes exterior paint - Muted Olive. I thought it would be more of a green colour but it actually looks more blue to me... Still got to finish it yet too Anyway, the newbies are settling in quite well, although I've still got the joy of introducing them properly to the big girls. My OH has had them all out to FR while I've been at work but has made sure that they steer clear each other. For someone who didn't want any more chickens, he's been updating me regularly by text (even sending me a picture of what they were doing ) and he couldn't stop talking about them when I got home from work!! Plum
They're adorable both of them but Fleur really looks as though she needs longer legs. Scrumptious. Your run is great, I'd just leave the upper level as it is with perhaps some extra food pots for introductions
