Cinnamon
My last MF Matress lasted a good 8 years & was great despite it being an eBay cheapie. When we came to replace it in Autumn last year we decided to get a better one, & bought one from Next. It has however 'lost its memory', & now has 2 dips each side & a ridge in the middle I am attempting to get something resembling customer service from Next ( not easy), & am mattress shopping again - anyone got any recommendations for a decent one with a longer memory this time? WitchHazel
Sarah, I would recommend you take a trip to BackInAction at Amersham http://www.backinaction.co.uk/stores. They have a number of different types on display that you can try. (They have a smaller store in Marlow, but this doesn't have mattresses on display) I bought a memory foam mattress from them 9 years ago, and we've been happy with it. I went in thinking I would buy a Tempur mattress, but when I tried them (in BiA) I found them really uncomfortable. In the end I bought a product called MIrrorform. I'm sure mattress technoloigy has moved on. If I was looking to replace, I'd still start with them.
Grandmashazzie
I got a Tempur one, ordered online from John Lewis.I ordered it following recommendation from friend and when it came I thought I have made big mistake. It was hard and smelt 'chemically'.The smell left after few days and After three years it is still the best mattress I have slept on. Cinnamon
I am afraid that Tempur ones are beyond my price range, even with my Partner discount

Angie
I have a sleepezee pocket (2000 pockets ) and memory foam mattress which was around £700, on the kingsize, it also has a 4 inch memory topper on it bought from Costco .( bad arthritis must have comfort . They have been on the bed for 4 years now and going strong. The queen 4 footer has a sealy pocket sprung memory ( 1000 ) and a 4 inch topper too and this must be over 2 now and still very supporting and comfortable. When I changed my bed my YD took the old Ikea bed plus memory foam mattress and it is still very comfortable and shows very little signs of wear and that must be at least 9 yrs old now .( the mattress then was over £200 ) You should go to a store that allows you to try before buying to find the right one for you. I have had reasonably priced ones in the past that have been fantastic , but in these present times they just seem to be a poor quality and false economy. As with everything else you get what you pay for.
Angie
I meant to add..... Check out the quality of the memory foam as they go in weight per m3 . The heavier the weight the better the foam .....45kg/m3 , 50kg/m3 right up to 79kg/m3 . Mine are all 79kg/m3 If that doesn't add to the confusion. soapdragon
I think that my memory foam mattress is suffering from the same degree of amnesia that I am...maybe they get PMT too!!!
Cinnamon
actually the cheapest mattress they tried came out best silentnight-3-zone-memory-foam Yes, I remembered that test yesterday & got the same info - they now do a 7 zone one too. Next are sending someone out to look at our mattress next week, then will replace it for us. I will in fact be asking for a refund (which in my mind if they are replacing one because it has problems, they are admitting there are problems with it & should therefore be able to do), & if they refuse I will take the replacement & sell it on eBay as unused...I will NEVER buy a mattress from them again
The Dogmother
I have slept on, and didn't like, a full memory foam mattress. I have an orthopaedic mattress with an MF topper, and that suits me fine.
Mrs Webmuppet
We have just replaced our mattress......got it from Ikea. It's a foam mattress and came shrink wrapped so it fitted in my Clio (I got a mattress topper too) it's very comfy and comes with a 25year guarantee. dancing cloud
I really adore my Tempur, which has now lasted about 15 years and shows no signs of wear. Sounds like the Next one definitely has something wrong with it if it has failed so quickly. Fingers crossed for your refund.
