Olly
Such a shame ... it's been one of those weeks, we had a big conference at work on Wednesday that I've been organising for weeks and it poured so we couldn't use the outside space. Yesterday was so hot I couldn't sit outside. The rain is patchy so I hope it stays dry enough for your fete, CatieB.
chickencam
Hope all has gone well, we had heavy rain between 10-12 since then it has been hot sunny and humid.
patsylabrador
Hope it went well. English weather does try your patience some times.
CatieB
We were very lucky. The heavens opened this morning with thunder and lightening which left the ground saturated all day and very squelchy. The rain was very heavy and it did it again at the beginning of the fete. but within half an hour it stopped and we even had some sun later on. it stayed dry for the rest of the afternoon and ended up having a good turn out. Phew it could have been so much worse
soapdragon
So glad that it dried up for you all - such a lot of work to go to waste in the rain! BIL is getting married later this month and has been stressing out about the weather as they are planning to walk to the church and all the guests will walk from church to barn reception. Their dress code on the invites says 'English country fete' - NOT a good omen
dancing cloud
Glad all went well after so much effort , a little soft ground underfoot is just fine. Our village fete is next Sunday, so we are confidently expecting gales, torrential rain, six feet of snow ...
CatieB
Their dress code on the invites says 'English country fete' - NOT a good omen What a good dress code, whilst I think that means be prepared for anything, I think if our experience is anything to go on you will be fine. Hubby has been on the committee for about 5 years and we have only had significantly bad weather once. I hope it goes well.
soapdragon
Its just such a lottery, isn't it?! Mind you, what would we Brits talk about if the weather was predictable CatieB, was the financial 'take' good? That's what counts!
CatieB
i don't know the answer to that. Hubby doesn't do the money side of things but will find out at the next meeting. A couple of people we know have stalls and said they thought they were busier so fingers crossed.
patsylabrador
Have people got pictures they could post of their summer fetes? I love pictures of summer fetes. All the bunting and stalls and funny competitions.
soapdragon
We love fetes too! There seems to be one almost every week in surrounding villages from the middle of May to the end of June...OH beetles off to the book stall whilst I buy yet more plants that I know nothing about Then the boys go on a ride/try and hook a duck/throw at the coconut shy! Last year I even managed to buy three brand new Loccitane products on the White Elephant All good family fun!
