jesschicken24
Just had a chat with my fellow chicken keepers (my boyfriend and his mum) about what we will do when our hens start laying. I'm going to have mine soft boiled and my boyfriend if going to use his for baking. So now I thought I'd be nosey and ask what did you do with your first (edible) egg? Or, what will you do when your chickens lay their first egg?

Purplemaniacs
We fried it too as it was the easiest way to share it with OH and DS Also it gave lots of opportunity to admire the beauty of it while it was frying Chrissie
mullethunter
Poached almost as soon as laid to really appreciate the freshness

Luvachicken
I scrambled my first egg and shared it with my sister who was over from Greece. Only a tiny portion but very delicious
UKMARCH
We blew ours and kept them in egg cups on the dresser. They are so tiny and cute and one had lovely different layers on. We have now had quite a few so when our chicks grow will probably just eat them! Unless one of the olive eggers turns out to be a pullet then I will probably blow that one and keep it to see how the colour changes. Purplemaniacs
Dropped it! Oh no I am cross if I crack or break the odd one but to drop your first egg you must have been so upset. I hope you have had lots of lovely eggs since to make up for it. Chrissie
jesschicken24
Dropped it! Oh dear! Knowing how clumsy I am, I'll probably do the same thing, most likely out of excitement. While doing my little egg dance.
Claireabella
Yes, I was gutted I remember thinking how lovely, small and shiny it was and while holding it I rubbed my thumb over it and that was it! It sort of popped straight out of my hand I couldn't possibly repeat what I said
