Cat tails
My mischievous ladies have just discovered the grapes on my grapes bush... Most of the bunches are luckily too high up, but I just saw one chicken run of with a whole bunch!
The Dogmother
That'll be the end of those then!!!
Cat tails
Well at least they are getting their exercise! They need to jump about a meter for the rest... And the grapes are not nearly ripened. The ripe grapes is deep blue.
Jenthelibrarian
Last summer my [then] two learned how to open the sliding door to my greenhouse and help themselves to tomatoes. You stick your beak into the tiny crack, then push your head through.... This year I am making sure I keep the door firmly latched. I really do not know who ever thought 'bird-brain' should be a term of abuse
Chickabee
are they not terribly sour at the moment. I suppose the chooks don't have the same taste buds as us your girlies are looking very beautiful, perhaps we should all eat sour grapes
Cat tails
Thanks! I think they really beautiful. I think it might be the sour grapes and iffy pears... My pear tree is hopeless this year and drops every fruit way to early... The girls come running though and dig in into sour pears too! Bramble
Your girls look very pretty! My lot LOVE stripping all the redcurrants off the one bush they can reach - it's actually very entertaining watching them ... they look like they're on pogo sticks the way they bounce up and down to reach them!!!! Cat tails
They can jump so high! I thought mine would go for the blackberries, but somehow those are horrible... According to the ladies that is...
mullethunter
Your girls are beautiful Cat tails. They look so healthy and such a lovely colour. Half of mine like blackberries. The Wyandottes didn't seem to believe they were food at all, but the Pekins had a go. Unfortunately Shelley flicked her beak halfway through eating one and covered her light grey feathers in purple spots!
Cat tails
Hahaha! She has a good fashion sense! Purple IS the colour for this autumn! Cinnamon had been digging up some boarder yesterday and still walks around with a completely black face... "I didn do nuffin!"
Charlottechicken
Lovely pics of beautiful girls! I have grape vines as well, but as they never get a chance to mature fully, the chickens get the ones that the blackbirds leave They love fruit. They do help themselves to the raspberries and currants in the garden too. This morning I found a well pecked plum which had fallen off the tree, yesterday afternoon's freeranging snack
MaryHen
My girls are soo picky...I have a plum tree and they will happily eat plums that have fallen on the ground but if I pick one and give it too them they leave it unless I squidge it and break the skin for them!!! I left a little gem lettuce with them in the run yesterday and when i returned home there wasnt any sign of it..either I have a magician in the flock or theyreally like it and completely mullered it!!...didnt like the brocolli though!! Cat tails
Mine will perform the odd trick for broccoli! but not the home grown broccoli... They prefer shop bought broccoli
