Claireabella
These ladies have been at the rescue place for a few weeks now along with around another 25-30 rescue ladies awaiting their forever homes. Yesterday we bought four of them home to enjoy a well deserved retirement. Introducing... Ruby - she is almost fully feathered apart from her tummy; appears to be bottom of the pecking order. Gertrude - She is missing quite a few feathers and walks a bit funny. Bless, she is adorable. Betty - she is the smallest of the four hens. Mavis - top girl and the cheekiest chook! She's really taken to my OH and followed him around pecking his jeans as he was filling up the food. He named her Mavis And she's not camera shy! They have totally melted my heart and two of them even laid an egg this morning. I nearly cried!

dancing cloud
Always lovely to see pix of happy hens enjoying life the way they should and I'm sure they think they're in heaven! Amazing how quickly their characters come through and how different they all are (and how fast they can grab hold of our hearts). That Mavis isn't backwards at coming forwards, is she? Claireabella
Thanks for your lovely replies Well, so far, so good. Since Sunday they have spent their days eating, practically non-stop! They've been out in the garden for a wander a few times (when it has stopped raining, that is ) much to the disgust of my other girls who've stood swearing at them from their runs I've been spending an hour or so each evening sitting in the run with them and occasionally hand feeding them live mealworms. They are understandably quite nervous, poor girls, but they are getting used to me and they now peck the ends of my fingers every time they see me...I'm sure they think mealworms will appear Seriously though, I feel really lucky to have them, they're amazing
