Valkyrie
Root beer anyone? Yes the dandelion and burdock is lovely, we sort of overdosed on that on our holiday earlier this year!
freddie
Lime, soda and Angastura bitters.. Yum. Elderflower cordial with soda is good too, with lemon slices.
Princess Leia
Schweppes make a mixer for vodka called Russchian which is very good on its own
Cinnamon
Actually it has now been rebranded & is no longer called Russchian. It is now a tonic water called Berry Blast (I think), - it has a little bit on the label saying 'formally known as Russchian' - I saw it yesterday at work It is very nice indeed, as is the elderflower tonic they also do. Groovychook
There's a nice recipe in Decembers Waitrose mag. It's called Non Alcoholic Thai Lemonade. It's got lemons, limes, ginger, chilli, lemongrass & ginger ale in it. Sounds delicious... I'm going to give it a try this Christmas

Cinnamon
My Aussie friend makes these & keeps them in her fridge this time of year (its VERY hot in Brisbane at the moment!) http://www.theyummylife.com/Flavored_Water
Groovychook
Here we go DM... Recipe for Waitrose 'Non Alcoholic Thai Lemonade' 2 lemons, pared zest & juice 1 lemongrass stick, bashed 30g fresh root ginger, roughly sliced 1/2 red chilli 2 limes, 11/2 juiced, 1/2 sliced 75ml Bottlegreen Ginger & Lemongrass Cordial 400ml ginger ale Put all the ingredients, apart from the ginger ale, into a large jug; stir to combine. When ready to serve, fill the jug with ice & top up with the ginger ale. Sounds lovely, but haven't tried it as yet!
Daphne
Thanks for that link Cinnamon - I drink a lot of water straight from the tap and enjoy it, but you've given me some brilliant ideas for when I'm back in Portugal in the heat. We've had the pineapple and mint combo in a restaurant - it was delicious, and we can buy the biggest watermelons in the world (slight exaggeration!) for very little money so I'll be giving that a go too. OH once bought the biggest one in the shop.....and we had to transport it home on the back seat of the car, strapped in so it didn't bounce about and knock one of us out
