Guest
I don't think many couples could work together really I have a friend whose husband works away all week in Aberdeen and she loves him being away. She gets quite resentful if he works from home
The Dogmother
Funny isn't it? My sister and her OH run their business from the house, he is out mostly all day every day, but if he goes away she hates being in the house on her own. I love being just Rosie and I, I'm not bothered that Phil has his own place, nor when he goes away. Just horses for courses I guess.
Egluntyne
What a shame that Adwoa and Lloyd went out last night. They are very likeable and she is a grafter. I'm sorry to see them go, although I must admit the "Lurve Shack" by the bins in the car park and the tacky Club 18- 30 games were absolutely unspeakable. Not pitched towards professional "singles" at all. Grant and Laura followed the brief. Their restaurant looked lovely and Laura had done her homework, so they deserved to win although there was some criticism of the choice of dishes. Jane and Jeremy...what can you say. She openly criticised Grants menu....even though she was on his team and the look on Jeremy's face at the kissy congratulatory bit at the end spoke volumes. He was furious that they had survived the challenge. Clearly these two see Grant and Laura as their main competitors. I really hope Jane and Jeremy do not win. WitchHazel
I was very sorry to see Adwoa and Lloyd go, but I think I would have been sad whichever couple went out. I wonder if they kept James in to keep the interest up? I know I've been willing them to be closed for weeks! I can't believe they will win. chelsea
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! Jeremy and Jane through! .... I havent seen someone so smarmy as Jeremy on the tv for a long time and she just cries constantly. Sure as eggs are eggs they will win now (cos everytime I want someone not to win - they win! )
Lesley
I've thought for a couple of weeks that Raymond admires Jeremy and his skills - perhaps he's hoping that Jane will sort herself out? The twins seem to have let themselves down after such a good start
Guest
Jane and Jeremy I feel sure now they will win, I think Raymond likes the concept of the 8 course meal. They never pick him up on any of the mishaps that happen during the programme, but everyone else gets a really tough time, Poor twins again The twins were really poor last night, although I'm not too sure I believe a lot of what went on especially with Grant and Laura Raymond seemed to be turning people away from their restaurant and persuading them to leave I think the staff issue is odd, they never seem to have the same staff every week and then they just end up with odd people turning up that are completely unsuitable. The two last night had one scene and were never in the programme again
WitchHazel
I can't believe Jeremy and Jane are in the final. Is there ever a day when that woman doesn't cry? And raw salmon? Yet still they got through. I think Grant should have kept back one of his veggie haggis just in case Raymond came in. I'm sure it was the appalling veggie dish he served that "did for " him. I bet Jeremy and Jane win. WHat a shame.
Helen&Lee
I too think the winners are going to be Jeremy and Jane It can only be because Raymond likes the 8 course meal concept - Jane is terrible at front of house - she drives me mad! Last night she was even pleading with her staff to help her - she is meant to be in charge of them not the other way around! The Ghanain couple (just can't remember their names) lost out largely because of his failure to 'control' the front of house - but Jeremy & Jane seem to get away with it...!! Egluntyne
Jane......aaaaarrrggghhhh!! She never takes responsibility for anything! She even hinted that the problems on the occasion that Raymond visited were his fault for causing a distraction. I could cheerfully slap her. She's a teacher for heavens sake. How does she cope with difficult classroom situations or awkward interviews with parents. And as for him...that business at the beginning of the programme where they were arguing about an extra table for six.......he has no idea. They don't deserve to win and would last 5 minutes in the real business world. Although I love the twins, Raymonds remarks were fair. The kitchen and passageway were unacceptably dirty and using frozen goods wasn't in keeping with their marketing. The other Laura is lovely....so serene and charming with everybody, always polite and unflappable. 5 months pregnant and with a tiny daughter who looks only to be about a year old......remarkable stamina. Compare her to the wet Jane. I don't care who wins....so long as it isn't Jane and Jeremy.
WitchHazel
Although I was really sad that Grant & Laura and Jess & Laura were in the challenge, because it meant that one of them had to go, I think the challenge itself was an incredible opportunity and I was perversely pleased that James & Jane didn't get it. Can you imagine what Jane would have been like front of house? Can you see James coping in the kitchen having to get dishes ready at the same time as someone else? I watched the "Youre Fried" episode this week, dom't normally as Iwatch something else. I was AMAZED at the interviews with the public when so many people sai they wanted James&Jane to win! In the audience though, the majority were routing for the twins. I would love the twins to win, I really hope they do...but I feel that Jeremy and Jane will. Oh well, we'll know in less than a week. And if anyone does know, please DON'T say. Thanks
Guest
Grany and Laura, sadly, were never in with a chanc e of winning. No businessman (or woman) worth their salt would start a new business with a heavily pregnant woman. One of the critic hit the nail right on the head last night, when she commented that Laura looked extremely tired by the end of service at Raymonds resturant. As someone who has worked in returant and bar management while pregnant, I can vouch for just how hard it is, and Raymond will be looking for a couple that can get a business up and running, making profit quickly, and with Grant and Laura, that simply wouldn't have happened, as one half of the partnership - the all-important front of house 'floor-show' would have been out for a couple of months. It sucks, but in the catering business, it's a fact of life. I think he's going to go for Jeremy and Jane ( ) simply because they are turning the biggest profit, and who's business plan is closest to what raymond himself does. If they win, mind, they'll be divorced with a year....
Egluntyne
Have been doing a bit of snooping on 'tinterweb to see if I could find out who wins....to no avail. However....the winning couple get to run....depending who you believe, either the Trout or the Thatch in Thame. The Trout is undergoing a massive refurb at the mo, so it is probably that one. Also...Laura and Jess have been on the telly before. They played Tina and Gina in ...The Ministry of Mayhem.... Never heard of it myself. Egluntyne
Me again. Found ...THIS... Now call me cynical......and even though I like the twins and sincerely hope that Jeremy and Jane don't win.....are we being conned? Nowhere do any of the websites etc which refer to them is there any mention of them being children's party organisers, with the exception of sites directly connected with the programme. I am now coming to the conclusion that the whole thing really is a set up. Raymond gets massive advertising for his "brand" and the Beeb get a winning formula for a show. If the twins win (and I still hope they do because I can't abide the other two), this will now just confirm my suspicions. Hmmmmmm.
Guest
Great minds must think alike Egluntine I was trying to find out who the winner was the other day and could find nothing. Another case of the BBC having to have control of who the winner is I could find nothing on the twins Myspace page that mentioned anything about liking to cook or even being on the show Dan and I were talikng after the last show and saying it will probably come out in the papers that Jane happens to be the daugther of someone connected with the BBC
WitchHazel
Thanks for that link Egluntine. I'm not surprised the Twins hadn't mentioned their party organising on Myspace.. according to their page they are looking to be spotted by a TV producer. Still...they definitely aren't what I thought! I found some more interesting trails from their page. Martin (from the Bravo! couple) was listed as a friend of laura&jess, so I clicked his link. And on his page I found a link to Jacqui. It turns out Jacqui has also been doing some TV, and waaaay back before The Restaurant she was looking for an agent. None of the three Myspaces mentioned the show (as far as I could tell). Maybe they aren't allowed to in the terms of their contract? I still hope they win as I dislike James and Jane so much! WitchHazel
Egluntine, do you have a llink to the info about the Trout or the Thatch? My DH comes from Thame and can't remember pubs of those names there. Mind you, he's been away from there for many years now.
feemcg
Jacqui and Sam are on Jess and Lauras list of friends too - and Martin and Emma ask them if they've stopped drinking and partying yet......mmmm.....is that a clue I wonder
One Man Banned
I would presume that they would probably have to remove a lot of information about themselves from the web as part of the contracts with the Beeb, but intersting about Jacqui....like you say very interesting.... Ah well, another one for the "fake this that or other" investigations A xx
feemcg
Oooh...just found out on digital Spy that Jeremy was on Masterchef Goes Live cooking with the Marines.
The Dogmother
I understand that it's a long established thing for TV wannabees to constantly apply for this type of programme, just to get airtime and in the hope of landing a contract I used to work with a jobbing actress and she was always being used to pad out this type of show, or on make-over things. What's the betting that the winning couple get a series covering their start-up? Laura and Jess certainly have more presence and professionalism to them (probably because they're stage-types. But then they're not chefs as far as I know. Jeremy and misery guts make more money each show (according to Rosie the budding accountant), and he is a professional chef. The winner has to be tenacious - the restaurant trade is hard work, long hours and very little rewards unless you make it to the top. Friends of mine used to be in business with the odious AWT and found it very hard
