CannyCat
Then I couldn't stop..................... I can't wait for the next Simply knitting the featured Alan Dart pattern is for a Noah's ark. Wow! I want a chicken!!! I can't knit I just can't master perling. So, I signed up for a knitting and spinning course at a local farm in November (I spin already, so can dedicate the weekend to perl ) (It's in North Wiltshire, if anyone's interested I can pass on details)
CannyCat
Well done Ali........... I have found the internet the cheapest place for knitting supplies although the prices of wool vary so much. For instance i want to knit a jumper in Sublime Merino wool and the prices range from £5 a ball to £2.99, so i would suggest once you know what you want have a good search around first and watch out for the dreaded postage.......... Moi again - Lidl often have cheap wool in. I got a bag of 10 balls for 2.99 a few weeks ago! (Ok ok, I got 4 bags... ) It's just acrylic, but it doesn't matter if (when!) I screw up then
CannyCat
Well I have been inspired to pick up knitting needles again after a 10 year gap. I started knitting a cow last night and have already finished the body and the head. Spent an age searching for all my knitting equipment on Friday only to be told by OH that he threw it all away last year How dare he Now I will have to start from scratch, so I am a proud owner of 3 balls of wool and one pair of needles Anyone know of any cheap places to buy knitting equipment He THREW AWAY your crafting supplies? Sacrilege! OH would NEVER get away with such behaviour

craftyhunnypie
Hiya - Oh my god Nicola - that's one expensive knitted chicken! I just used regular double knitting wool, some of which was a £ 1.00 a ball! My chicken didn't cost much in materials to make at all, it was just the time with me. I don't mind making another as long as you don't mind waiting a bit for the final thing! It would cost you the price of the wool (approx £5.00) & a bag of layers pellets! Guest
I've just started knitting Innocent bobble hats again. It's a great way to use up left over wool and to match really garish colours! In Hobbycraft I found a pom-pom maker with 3 sizes of circles which fit together. I usually use bits of cereal boxes but they get rather worn from all the cutting at the end. Silly waste of money really but gave me a bit of retail therapy without breaking the bank!

craftyhunnypie
HELP!!!!!!! I'm knitting a felted bag on 6.5mm circular needles. Not done this before. I've knitted the bag base, but now it says to pick up 22 stiches from the side of the bag...er what stitches & how??? Totally confused! Please help before it gets unravelled and turned into something easier to knit! Emma.x
Egluntyne
If you look carefully at the sides you will see loops formed by the stitches at the ends of the rows. You literally just "pick them up" with another Knitting needle by looping them onto it. It seems terribly hit and miss at first but it will work. Try to do it as evenly as poss. Have a look...here...
