newcountrygirl
I have been wanting to get a friend for Ziggy my Border terrier for a long time and have finally persuaded my hubby that we need a friend for her. A friends Border has recently had some pups. My dilemma is do i go for a girl or a boy? Ziggy is a girl (Ziggy Stardust was androgynous)!! She is 7 just before Xmas. I initially thought a boy as some people told me not to have two same sex dogs together as it could cause problems. However, I am used to girls. Lots of friends have two girls together with no problems so I am erring on the side of a little girl. Any ideas welcome please.
Chucky Mama
I would choose a girl every time but that is personal preference.

Grandmashazzie
I have always had a boy and girl as I was told ages ago that same sex would fight. My friend has two "Ooops, word censored!"s with no problems . I actually think males are more cuddly and loving. My girls have always been right little madams. newcountrygirl
My Ziggy has always been a little madam - but she loves cuddles too. I am going to get another girl I think.
dancing cloud
If you have no strong preference, perhaps just see which puppy throws itself at you? Last time, my parents were determined to have a male till one of the females attached herself to them like a limpet. And then there were two ... If they are neutered, you won't need to worry about separating them at any point.

The Dogmother
I find that it depends on the personality of the dog as much as the mix of sexes; I have one of each at the moment, the female is highly strung, and the male is very laid back. I have also had same sex packs before; as with chickens, it all depends on your introduction.
