Oh my WORD!!

Recommended Posts

Every so often I have a senior moment where I can't think of the right word.

Today I was trying to ask a breast feeding mum if she expressed her milk. Could I think of the word? Could I heck? I ended up asking her if she "drained" her breasts  the look on her face said it all. My colleague and I howled with laughter later as we had visions of some poor woman with wrung out boobs. sorry its not that funny but anyone whose had kids will know what I'm on about.

For some odd (and probably deeply phsycological) reason I always seem to manage to muddle up the words 'washing' and 'shopping'

OH has similar remembering difficulties so the word 'diddlydoohdah' comes into play a lot in our house...there is the diddlydoodah that operates the TV, the diddlydoodahs that unlock cars, the diddlydoodah that I always need and forget to have to hand to s"Ooops, word censored!"e out the cake bowl into the tin......I could go on (and frequently do.... )

The problem with that is that the 'sayer' knows exactly what they mean whilst the 'sayee' just has to hazard a guess depending on the situation and general countenance of the 'sayer'.

Of all the things that I have lost its my brain I miss the most - as someone notable once said (not that I can recall WHO, of course :wall: )
