dancing cloud
I will start by saying my dad is absolutely fine. That said and established, the scumbag that did this a week ago had a go at him in a local bank yesterday. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/shocking-cctv-footage-shows-brazen-11533715 My dad looks physically frail and shaky and was clearly targeted as victim material. Fortunately for him, he is still very sharp mentally and the potential robber got away with nothing other than an earful of quaint anglo-saxon terminology. Yesterday's version was dressed in a suit and used a folded newspaper rather than a leaflet and my dad said it all happened so very quickly that even he didn't realise fully what was going on until it was over. The police are trying to catch this person, but please make your elderlies aware that this predator is out there, especially if they are in the Manchester area. Maybe go with them if they need to withdraw cash? Please also keep an eye on anyone you see using a machine that looks vulnerable. This person has no problem with choosing the weak and elderly. Wonder whether he'd think it was ok if someone did this to his granny?
Valkyrie
Glad to see that your dad is OK. Nasty times. Although the Milky Bar advert popping up with giggling kiddies playing with balloons right in the middle seemed rather inappropriate!!! Especially as it was a police video! Guess they have no say in what goes on and these ads are random. The way he shoved another lady out of the way too!
Charlottechicken
Thank you for sharing this, a reminder that scumbags still operate these distraction techniques. I'm pleased to hear your dad is OK. I'm probably not alone in thinking if someone did this to me at the cashpoint it would catch me off guard too, so well done to your dad for hanging on to his hard earned cash. My mum insists on taking cash from a teller and won't use cashpoints, I think she has always found them confusing, thankfully!
Luvachicken
That's a sad story. I always thought it was safer to use the cash points inside the bank but now will think twice and be more aware when I use them.
mullethunter
B******s. I hope this doesn't happen again, doesn't change the way your dad leads his life and that the scumbags get their come-uppance
The Dogmother
B******s. I hope this doesn't happen again, doesn't change the way your dad leads his life and that the scumbags get their come-uppance Wot she said Glad your dad is OK There were some incidents of this locally to me too; I also try to use machines inside the bank, or cashback in stores. If I can't, then I usually withdraw cash when I have my dogs with me..... they are brilliant bodyguards!
